Liberace’s Stunning Sunset Strip Townhouse Just Hit the Market for $3.6 Million

Hold onto your sequins, because the townhouse Liberace owned in the 1970s has just hit the market for $3.6 million.

Perched above the iconic Sunset Strip, the Hollywood Regency-style townhouse is much more modest than the famously extravagant piano player’s 28-room Beverly Hills mansion that brought comparisons of Versailles Palace, but that isn’t to say the townhouse is lacking in any capacity.

Per Robb Report, the 2,400-square-foot property is part of The Shoreham, a complex first built in 1937 by MGM to house its stars. The Shoreham has hosted nearly anyone you can think of when it comes to the Golden Age of Hollywood, from the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, and Ava Gardner. Before Liberace called the Sunset Strip townhouse home, it was owned by Barbara Sinatra, the model and fourth wife of Frank Sinatra.

Although the condo has had some modern updates, it still retains much of its Old Hollywood flourishes, including herringbone-pattern walnut floors, French doors that open up to a private courtyard, and a 1930s marble fireplace. And, unlike the rest of the other units at The Shoreham, Liberace’s former pad boasts a 2,000-square-foot private roof terrace. Can you imagine the soirées Liberace must have thrown here?

The stunning home has its own private courtyard where French doors open up to a walled space perfect for entertaining a small group of friends or for sipping your morning coffee. In the home’s front room the glamour continues with the original 1930s Old Hollywood marble fireplace. The bookcases were a more recent addition, but they make the fireplace a nice cozy reading space.

Easily one of the best features of the Sunset Strip townhome has to be its rooftop terrace that overlooks Los Angeles. While it looks modern and slick now, it is easy to imagine Liberace throwing one extragavant party up here during the ’70s.

Liberace, a famous pianist, singer, and actor, had a decades-long entertainment career. His performances were absolute spectacles, and his bold fashion choices and bejeweled pianos made him the legend that he is today. Whoever ends up living in this townhouse will be able to say they’ve got their own slice of Hollywood history. Be sure to check out the rest of the coverage of Liberace’s ’70s townhouse and see the images of the home over onRobb Report!
