Over the years, Madonna has kept her six kids relatively under the radar. So, despite the rare pictures of them on social media, we’d still love to know more about the “Like a Virgin” singer’s mostly grown-up kids.
Luckily for anyone wondering, the singer’s kids were on full display during the singer’s long-awaited opening night of her Celebration Tour. Out of her six kids, five of them made it to the stage and helped their mother perform her fan-favorite songs.
Madonna’s 11-year-old twins Stella and Estere, for example, totally stole the show. While Stella joined in the dance of Madonna’s Western-inspired song “Don’t Tell Me,” Estere proved that talent runs in the family as she wowed in a voguing dance number. Madonna’s eldest daughter Lourdes Leon, 18-year-old son David Banda and 17-year-old daughter Mercy James were also in attendance at the event supporting their mom.
So, in honor of their recent appearance onstage, we’re looking back at all of Madonna’s kids and what they look like, and are up to, now. And, spoiler alert: they aren’t little kids anymore! Scroll below to find out more!
Lourdes Leon
Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s oldest, has already made a name for herself in the industry. As a fashion model, the 27-year-old, whose dad is Madonna’s ex-boyfriend Carlos Leon, has walked for various worldwide brands including Savage x Fenty, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Swarovski and Mugler, and more.
In addition to modeling, Lourdes has also released music of her own including 2022’s “Lock&Key” and her most recent release, “Spelling.”
Rocco Ritchie
Years later, during Madonna’s marriage to Guy Ritchie, the two welcomed their first son together, Rocco Ritchie, who’s now 23 years old. In 2022, Rocco, who attended the prestigious art school Central Saint Martins, admitted to being a painter who had been painting for a while under the artistic name “Rhed.”
“Neither of my parents are painters, but both are artists in their own right and they taught me to appreciate and respect it,” he told Vogue Hong Kong. “Their shared fascination eventually piqued my interest and since I can remember I’ve always been surrounded by it.”
As for why he initially chose a pseudonym, Rocco gave his take on the infamous “nepo baby” conversation. “Rhed is just a name. The only real meaning and importance of that were so my life and my career weren’t confusing each other, especially at a point where I haven’t earned the title yet,” Rocco explained to the outlet. “It’s not that I don’t feel proud to be who I am, on the contrary, I couldn’t be prouder of my parents and what they’ve achieved and in turn taught me. I just needed enough time to develop and experience my own lessons just like they did, without the extreme public judgment. Rhed was a mask until it wasn’t.”
David Banda
A few years later, in 2006, Madonna and Ritchie began the process of adopting their other son, now 18-year-old David Banda. Over the years, Madonna has shown just how talented David is, from his fashion skills, and soccer skills to his impressive dancing.
“He can put on any outfit and look swag as you know what,” Madonna told The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last year. “It’s really irritating. He wears my clothes and looks better in them. He can even wear a dress and look butch.”
Mercy James
A year after Madonna’s divorce from Ritchie was final in 2008, the singer adopted Chifundo “Mercy” James as a single mom. Mercy, now 17 years old, has also shown off how multi-talented she is over the years, from her skills in makeup to her love for gymnastics.
Stella Ciccone
A few years after welcoming Mercy, Madonna adopted twins Stella and Estere from Malawi in 2012. “It’s like they were always here,” the singer told People at the time. “It didn’t take long for them to get acclimated.”
Both Stella and Estere, now 11 years old, graduated from elementary school in June of this year.
Estere Ciccone
Over the years, Madonna has shown off Stella’s piano skills and Estere’s dancing abilities. Estere’s skills, of course, were put on major display during this stunning voguing moment at her mom’s concert. A true showstopper!
