In case you missed it, the 81st Annual Golden Globes happened last night, and everyone in Hollywood came to dazzle the crowd. Held on Jan 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, so many of our favorite stars have come in some seriously gorgeous threads. From the winners to presenters, no one missed the opportunity to dress to impress!
Speaking of dressing to impress, so many stars came in custom threads, gorgeous ballgowns, and everything in between that made our sartorial-loving hearts sing! And the great thing about this year’s red carpet was that there was so much versatility.
There were big gowns, small gowns, colorful ones, dark ones, and everything in between. However, amongst the sea of unique gowns, we did notice quite a few trends pop up a lot throughout the red carpet.
From nostalgic trends making their way back to mainstream to different cores that are thriving, we found a lot of cool trends at the Golden Globes.
Below, check out all the trends we saw at the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet.
Black Gloves
Bring back old Hollywood glamour! Black gloves are all the rage again, and we can’t get enough of it. And Hailee Steinfeld, and Lisa Ann Walter’s looks are going to live in our minds rent-free.
Corsets
In the past few years, corsets have been all the rage and the 2024 Golden Globes was no different! Elizabeth Banks rocked a corset with her custom Dolce & Gabbana gown and Cailee Spaeny did the same with her custom Miu Miu gown.
Metallics
Along with Barbiecore dresses, the Golden Globes red carpet was full of metallic dresses. So many stars stole the show with their metallic looks like Julia Garner, Taylor Swift, Issa Rae, Naomi Watts, Skai Jackson, and Lisa Ann Walter.
Barbiecore
Hi Barbie! Barbiecore was still thriving, especially on the Golden Globes red carpet, with pink looks coming from Margot Robbie, Jennifer Lopez, Hailee Steinfeld, and Keltie Knight.
Dramatic Sleeves
The only thing we love more than a colorful gown is a black gown with colorful, dramatic sleeves; and Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph delivered! James stole the show with her long olive sleeves on her Monsoori gown, and Ralph brought the vibrancy with the short, puffy sleeves on her Safiyaa gown.
Satin
If red was the color of the night, satin was the fabric. Nearly every other dress we saw had satin elements to it, whether it was a part of the dress like Gayle King’s Solace London gown or the full dress itself like Selena Gomez’s custom Armani Privé gown.
Red Ballgowns
Move over black ballgowns and LBDs, because it’s officially Hollywood’s red era! So many stars arrived in red gowns, specifically red ballgown and no one could take their eyes off of them!
Peplum Skirts
Is it 2014 again?! Because peplum skirts are back, baby! We saw quite a few of this throwback trend on the red carpet, from Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s custom Rodarte gown to Allison Howell Williams’s black Giambattista Valli gown.
Tassels
One trend we saw over and over again on the red carpet was tassels. Whether they were big or small, celebs weren’t afraid to try the daring (and let’s face it, fun) trend. Just look at Keri Russell’s Jil Sander dress that featured large tassels on the skirt, and Natasha Lyonne’s small-tassel-clad Schiaparelli gown.
