While they split up in 2007, they got back together quickly after the fact. In 2010, William proposed to Kate, and they married in an iconic ceremony held on April 29, 2011. Since then, they’ve welcomed three children, and seem more in love than ever.
Despite being royalty, William and Kate Keep their personal relationship quite private from the public eye, and thus many rumors get spurred on throughout the internet. Many claim that they’re unhappy together, that they fight all the time, and some have even gone as far as to claim that William had an affair with Kate’s BFF Rose Hanbury.
But, these are merely rumors, and some rumors that turned into conspiracy theories. And conspiracy theories can be fun from time to time, that’s kind of all they are: theories. The Theory That Kate Died During Her Absence & William Is Trying to Cover It Up
Okay, this one is by far the most wild conspiracy theory we’ve ever heard, and it’s one that makes no sense. Despite the palace shutting down conspiracy theories and repeating that Kate is in recovery until after Easter, fans think she’s… dead (even with that leaked photo of her in the driver’s seat with her mother). We have no words, to be honest.
The Theory That Kate’s Absence Has to Do With Them Divorcing
Despite the palace even saying Kate Middleton wouldn’t be going to events until after Easter to deal with her surgery, many users believe there’s something else going on. With no basis whatsoever, many believe that there are issues in William and Kate’s marriage, and that her absence has something to do with them transitioning into being single?!
The Theory That They’re Aliens
Former BBC presenter David Icke, among others, theorized that the royal family, including William and Kate are reptilian aliens. Why? Because they’re so obsessed with keeping the royal bloodline “clean,” per RD.

For those who don’t know, Rose Hanbury and Kate Middleton were friends for years, and in 2019, the Sun published a piece saying the two had a falling out (which, according to Richard Kay, nearly left both getting legal action in response). Then, writers Giles Coren and Nicole Cliffe both claimed they knew about the alleged affair between Prince William and Hanbury in 2019, per IBTimes.
Others claimed they knew the affair, but William’s team shut down the rumors.

Along with the initial affair rumors between Prince William and Rose Hanbury, conspiracies swirled that they were secretly still seeing each other in 2023. The tabloid Marca claims that waiters say William an Hanbury out enjoying dinner on Valentine’s Day, but the royal team still denied the rumors.

Many claimed that Kate and William secretly decided to have surrogates for their three children, and hatched a plan to cover it up. The reason behind this theory? Many said Kate looked to put together when she debuts their children for the first time, and that “there is no special maternal look in her eyes,” per RD.

There’s a Reddit thread that alleged the real Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales were murdered in 2008, and were replaced by imposters. The theory claims that’s why the two changed so much after 2008.
The Theory That They Banded Together (& Bonded) to Smear Meghan’s Name
Back in 2019, The Times made claims about how William was in contact with the British press to help smear Meghan Markle’s name. Conspiracy theorists claim Kate joined in on this, and they bonded over ripping apart Meghan in the media.
The Theory That Kate Middleton’s Mom Carol Masterminded Their Relationship
The Crown alleged that Kate’s mom, Carole Middleton, was the mastermind for Kate and William’s relationship, with her alleged intention being so her daughter could be the future Queen of England.
Per Town and Country, numerous books and theorists have claimed this to be the case, with Carole not putting forth a statement on the subject.
