Women over 40 have been dominating recent award show red carpets from the Golden Globes to the Emmys and this year’s Oscars is no different. These women are taking over the 96th annual Academy Awards in incredible gowns and flawless makeup, proving that they’re experience shines on screen and on the red carpet.
At the 2023 Oscars, the over 40s winners included Everything Everywhere All at Once stars Jamie Lee Curtis, who won the Best Supporting Actress award, and Michelle Yeoh, who landed the Best Actress Oscar. On the red carpet, some of the most show-stopping looks of the night came from over 40s stars including Mindy Kaling’s memorable custom Vera Wang cutout dress or Salma Hayek’s dazzling sequin gown.
In 2024, we’re seeing women over 40 honored for their incredible work on-screen across many categories. Justine Triet is nominated for Best Director, the only woman in the category this year. Sandra Hüller and Annette Bening are flying the flag for the over 40s in the Best Actress category. In the Supporting Actress category, Emily Blunt and Jodie Foster are over 40 too.
