Stars were out in force for Hollywood’s biggest night at the 2024 Oscars and subsequent after-parties, and it was an evening full of firsts for many reasons.
While stars like Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Da’Vine Joy Randolph were celebrating first-time Oscar wins, other stars were starting a different kind of tradition — showcasing their new romances on, and off, the red carpet for the first time.
We saw many long-standing couples making the Oscars a date night including Mark Ruffalo and Sunrise Coigney, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, and Margot Robbie and husband Tom Ackerley who all put on loved-up displays on the red carpet.
However, we were also treated to the very first photos of some of newer celebrity couples, and those who have been keeping their romances on the down low. Take Chris Evans and Alba Baptista, for example. The couple made their red carpet debut after secretly tying the knot last year. Others, like Reneé Rapp, hard launched a new romance for the very first time at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party while some stars tried to avoid posing together on the red carpet but couldn’t swerve photographers inside the event.
