The 2024 Met Gala was a night filled with fashion, glamor, parties and fun but for some A-list guests there may have also been some ducking and diving behind the Met’s statues to avoid their exes.
On May 6, celebrities showcased stunning looks in line with this year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the dress code, “The Garden of Time.” Inside the gala, Met veterans and first-timers alike were treated to drinks, dinner and a performance from Ariana Grande.
Given that the carpet was filled with just about every famous person you could think of, apart from beloved stars who skipped the Met Gala and those who are allegedly not allowed back, it was almost inevitable that there would be some celebrity exes in the building.
While we were treated to many sweet couple moments, date nights and even some red carpet couple debuts, our hearts go out to some of our favorite stars who may have had awkward run-ins with exes.
Kendall Jenner definitely got the short end of the stick when she faced two of her exes inside this year’s Met Gala — Ben Simmons and Bad Bunny. Jenner split from Bad Bunny in December 2023 and has recently been seen out and about with another ex, NBA star Devin Booker. But she ended up partying the night with her Puerto Rican rapper ex instead after seemingly avoiding Simmons on the red carpet… talk about messy! But Jenner wasn’t the only one with an ex lover inside the Met Gala….

Kendall Jenner narrowly missed ex-boyfriend Ben Simmons on the red carpet when they arrived separately before both heading inside the ultra-private gala.
Jenner and the basketball star dated on and off between early 2018 until the end of 2019.
Kim Kardashian & Odell Beckham Jr.
Kim Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr. might have only had a brief fling but their April breakup is still fresh so we’re betting this may have been awkward.
The duo first linked in late 2023.
Kendall Jenner & Bad Bunny
No awkwardness here! Jenner and Bad Bunny proved exes can remain friends when they not only both attended the Met Gala but hung out at an after-party later that night.
The duo dated from February 2023 until December.
Sienna Miller & Jude Law
Sienna Miller and Jude Law have long moved on from their 2011 breakup but we still weren’t expecting them to cross paths!
Miller attended the Met Gala with Chloé while Law was part of the Versace crew.
Miller and Law first started dating in 2003 but split in 2006 after news broke that Law had cheated on his then-fiancée with his children’s nanny. They rekindled their romance in 2009 but split for good two years later.
Adrien Brody & Elsa Pataky
It is hard to remember a time before Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth’s 14 year romance but we’re sure Adrien Brody can!
Brody and Pataky dated from 2006 to 2009 and the actor even bought her a castle at one point in their relationship!
Pataky attended the Met Gala with her husband while Brody walked the carpet with his fiancée, Georgina Chapman.
Chase Stokes & Madelyn Cline
Teen hearts broke everywhere when news broke that Outer Banks co-stars Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline split in 2021 after over a year together. However, they have both happily moved on.
Stokes posed alongside girlfriend Kelsea Ballerini at this year’s Met Gala. Cline walked the carpet solo but has recently been linked to Pete Davidson.
Rosalía & Rauw Alejandro
After ending their engagement and three year relationship in July 2023, Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro no doubt had a very bittersweet night attending the same event. We don’t know if these two interacted, but we hope everything was civil!
