She made her acting debut in “Dream Girls,” for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, a Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, NAACP Image Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. As a singer, she’s won a Grammy for her debut album “Jennifer Hudson,” which sold more than one million copies. In 2013, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and now she’s up for best R&B performance.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, this beauty has been around for a while, first making appearances in music videos and lending her vocals to the R&B group B2K. Mother, wife, singer, songwriter and actor Beyoncé does it all. I mean, the woman has 17 Grammys and 53 nominations. This year, she’s nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Surround Sound Album, Best Music Film, Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song and Album of the Year.
Nicki Minaj
Rapper and songwriter Nicki Minaj is nominated for two Grammys this year: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her feature on “Bang Bang” and Best Rap Song for “Anaconda.” Nicki hasn’t been nominated for any Grammys since 2012, but with the release of her latest album “The Pinkprint,” it’s no doubt she should win with such an amazing album. So, all you Barbs keep your fingers crossed.

Barbra has been winning Grammys since 1963 (and she’s won eight!). Not only is she an amazing singer, but she’s also a songwriter, actress, author, producer, director and screenwriter. Ladies and gents, she does it all, and hopefully will add another Grammy to her collection this year.
Paramore
In the past, Paramore has been nominated for Best New Artist (in 2007), Best Song Written for a Soundtrack (for “Decode” in 2010) and Best Pop Song for “The Only Exception” (in 2011). And now they’re back with a nomination for Best Rock Song for “Ain’t It Fun.” This catchy rock song is a platinum record and deserves a Grammy.
St. Vincent
This is St. Vincent’s first Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album for her self-titled album “St. Vincent.” She’s battling to become the second female solo artist ever to win for Best Alternative Music Album.
Taylor Swift
For Taylor Swift, this is her third single to receive a Record of the Year nomination. She also has two more nominations, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. With eight Grammys under her belt, hopefully she’ll get to take a couple more home this year.
Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert, winner of the 2010 Grammy’s Best Female Country Vocal Performance, has four nominations this year. The country singer is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance, Best Country Album, Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. For her nomination of best country album, she has a little friendly rivalry with her childhood friend Dierks Bentley.
Ariana Grande
Pop and R&B singer Ariana Grande, who first made her breakthrough through her acting career on the Nickelodeon show “Victorious,” is now nominated for two Grammys after the debut of her second album release. All fingers crossed that the mini Mariah Carey will bring home a Grammy.
