While we always love to keep up with red carpets, and the gorgeous dresses and dapper suits that grace them, there’s something special about seeing our favorite athletes dress up for the ESPY Awards. After all, we’re so used to seeing them in their uniforms and sweating on the court that seeing them all dressed up almost deserves a double-take.
On July 11, many of our celebrity athletes did just that: said “see you later” to their jerseys and got all dressed up for the 2024 ESPY.
Among them, of course, was the night’s host Serena Williams. “I’ve been in rehearsals and it’s going OK,” she told Good Morning America prior to the show. “I don’t know. Oh, my God, I’m definitely nervous!”
“I mean, another option is just to put on a tennis outfit and grab a racket and grab some balls and maybe just start hitting or something,” Williams joked. “This is the year for ladies in sport, and I’m excited to see all the ladies kind of rule the ESPYS and just be super awesome.”

Serena Williams, who hosted the awards, was joined by her adorable family, her husband Alexis Ohanian and her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Proud dad Alexis wore a classic black tux, Olympia wore this cute silver dress and Williams looked breathtaking in this figure-hugging dress with silver details.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry & Serena Williams
After an outfit change, Williams joined her friends Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the carpet. Williams changed into this gorgeous sequined Ferragamo dress while Markle looked radiant in this white Staud dress and Harry looked dapper in this classic black suit.
