The 2024 Emmy nominations are here and TV might not have seen some of these major snubs and surprises coming. The nominations for the 76th Emmys were revealed on Wednesday morning with two shows in particular dominating the announcement, along with some other unexpected outcomes.
If it seems to you like the Emmy Awards just happened, know you’re not going wrong. The 2023 Emmy Awards took place just this past January due to delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strikes. The 2024 Emmys will take place on September 15.
Leading the charge in the 2024 Emmy nominations is FX’s Shogun, which landed 25 nominations, including limited series. This was closely followed by The Bear, which secured 23 nominations, breaking the record for the most Emmy nominations for a comedy in a single year. These two hit shows made it an incredible morning for FX, which landed 93 noms all together.
Apple TV+ secured 70 nominations with the help of The Morning Show (16 nominations) and newcomer Palm Royale (11 nominations). Netflix’s The Crown secured 18 nods while their shows Ripley and Baby Reindeer closely followed with 13 and 11 nominations respectively.
Like always, the list came with its fair share of snubs and surprises. From Emma Stone and Kate Winslet’s lack of nominations for The Curse and The Regime to Selena Gomez and Liza Colón-Zayas securing their first-ever solo acting nominations for Only Murders in the Building and The Bear, the nods of this year’s awards will surely have you feeling so many emotions.

Snub: Kelsey Grammer
Despite winning four Emmy Awards during the original run of Frasier, Kelsey Grammer did not land any nods this time around with the reboot.
Snub: Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet may have been a ruthless leader in The Regime, but her performance failed to land a Best Actress nomination with Emmy voters.
Snub: Emma Stone
Emma Stone may be a two-time Oscar winner, but she didn’t land a Best Actress nomination for her drama series, The Curse, which she also executive produced alongside her husband, Dave McCary.
Snub: ‘The Curse’
In addition to Stone’s snub, Showtime’s The Curse was shut out of nominations altogether, including not landing the Best Drama Series nod.
Surprise: Selena Gomez
Fans of Selena Gomez finally had their wishes answered this morning when the singer and actress was nominated for the Lead Actress Comedy award for her role in Only Murders in the Building. This is her first solo acting nod.
Surprise: Naomi Watts
Naomi Watts had some incredible co-stars in the limited series Feud: Capote vs. the Swans. Still, we’re glad she got her moment to shine and landed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie nomination.
Surprise: Liza Colón-Zayas
If you’ve seen the third season of The Bear, then this might not come as a surprise. After all, Liza Colón-Zayas absolutely stole the show in the sixth episode of the series. This is Colón-Zayas’ first-ever nomination.
Surprise: Idris Elba
Idris Elba is probably beaming this morning finding out he’s nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Hijack. This marks Elba’s sixth Emmy nod.
Surprise: D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai
After being long snubbed by the Emmys since the beginning, The Reservation Dogs is finally getting its time in the sun. Lead actor D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai got a much-deserved nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Surprise: ‘Reservation Dogs’
Along with Woon-A-Tai’s nomination, the series is also nominated for its first Outstanding Comedy Series award.
Surprise: ‘Palm Royale’
Speaking of surprising show nods, Apple TV+’s show Palm Royale also got some love. The Allison Janney and Kristen Wiig-starred show is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Surprise: Nava Mau
It was a very happy surprise to see Nava Mau receive a nomination in the Supporting Actress in a Limited Series category for her role in Baby Reindeer. Mau’s nomination makes her the first transgender woman to be recognized in this category.
“We can see that when trans people are given the opportunity, we will grow into it and so far beyond any expectation,” she told Deadline after her nomination was revealed.
