Aside from Longbottoming (getting super hot) in adulthood, Rupert Grint has been busy generally being awesome since his robe-wearing, wand-waving days on the set of the Harry Potter films. While Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001 was Grint’s debut screen performance, he has gone on to act in almost a dozen other films, television shows, theatrical performances and many other great ventures post-Potter.
He was a model (with Tom Felton)
In 2011, Grint hooked back up with his Potter co-star (and fellow heartthrob) Tom Felton for a photo shoot for the fashion label Band of Outsiders, a Los Angeles-based clothing label founded by Scott Sternberg. They were featured in the autumn/winter collection, appearing in the brand’s ubiquitous Polaroid campaign shot by the founder.
He did some voice-over work
Thought starry-eyed, love potion-struck Ron Weasley was adorable? You haven’t heard him do voice-over for an iconic children’s stop-motion film. In 2013, Postman Pat: The Movie was released. In it, you could hear Grint’s raspy voice as Josh in the lovable classic children’s story.
Tried his hand at television in ‘Super Clyde’
Grint was cast in a pilot for a TV show for NBC about an unassuming, low-level office employee who sets out to become the real-life superhero from a comic book his father created. It was ultimately passed on by the network and the show never made it past a pilot. I guess being a wizard and a superhero was just too much for the world.
He stalked Ed Sheeran
In 2011, Grint made a muscly appearance in fellow Brit Ed Sheeran’s music video for “Lego House.” In the video, it appears that Grint is portraying Sheeran, but in a creepy plot twist, it is revealed that Grint is actually an obsessive fan and has been stalking Sheeran.
‘Into the White’
One of his first major appearances was a film in 2012, Into the White, a work of historical fiction about events that occurred in Norway during World War II when several German and British bomber pilots crash-landed and had to weather a harsh winter. It got mixed reviews, but most viewers seemed to think it was a miss rather than a hit.
The face of the Visit England campaign
Grint starred alongside other heavy hitters such as Stephen Fry and Michelle Dockery in a campaign to get Brits to vacation in their own backyards for Visit England. In the TV ad, Grint can be seen looking doe-eyed at a pretty blonde while running around the countryside.
He carried the Olympic torch
On July 25, 2012, Grint carried the Olympic torch during the Olympic Torch Relay. He later told The Daily Telegraph, “It was amazing, it was really overwhelming. It’s just such an honor to be a part of this. I’m really proud.”
He starred on Broadway
In his Broadway debut, Grint starred alongside F. Murray Abraham, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally and Micah Stock in the critically acclaimed play It’s Only a Play. During an interview with Vanity Fair, Mullally revealed that Grint was terrified, but said that she thought he was going to be great. “I think he’s fantastic. I think he’s going to be great in this; he’s really good. Those goddamn Brits!”
He narrated a documentary about aliens
He narrated a strangely mesmerizing documentary about the possibility of other life in space called We Are Aliens! The film is a 360-degree digital planetarium show in Fulldome 2D and 3D.
