Here’s what we know so far about Game of Thrones Season 6 thanks to the cast of the show.
Ian McShane on Jon Snow
In an interview with BBC Breakfast, Ian McShane teased that Jon Snow isn’t gone for good. McShane said his character in the series will “bring back a much-loved character who everyone thinks is dead.”
Lena Headey on Jaime and Cersei
“Her relationship with Jaime is at an all-time weird level,” Headey told Entertainment Weekly about her character, Cersei, in Season 6. “It’s juicy, and it’s so f***ing dark.”
Maisie Williams on a Jon Snow twist
“There’s a great twist,” Maisie Williams said of Jon Snow’s fate during an interview at the London Critics’ Circle Awards, “but I can’t say that he’s going to be alive.”
Emilia Clarke on penises
Though Emilia Clarke didn’t speak specifically to Season 6, her new interview with Glamour is too good not to mention in this slideshow. And she did say where she hopes to see Daenerys eventually, even though now in the show she’s lost her power as Khaleesi. “I want to see Daenerys and her three dragons share the throne. Eat goat they’ve barbecued. And bring back all the pretty boys, get them to take their trousers down, and be like, ‘I’m now the queen of everything! I’d like close-ups of all the boys’ penises, please.'”
Jeremy Podeswa on violence
Game of Thrones director Jeremy Podeswa confirmed that the show would be tuning down the violence in Season 6 after many fans were left outraged at the brutal sexual assault against Sansa Stark. “The show depicts a brutal world where horrible things happen,” Podeswa explained. “They [the show’s creators] did not want to be too overly influenced by that [criticism] but they did absorb and take it in and it did influence them in a way.”
Kit Harington on Jon Snow
Kit Harington confirmed to Time Out London that his character Jon Snow is, in fact, dead. “Look, I’m not in the show anymore. I’m definitely not in the new series. I filmed some scenes of me being dead — it’s some of my best work. I know how long I’m a corpse for, but I can’t tell you that.”
Nathalie Emmanuel on momentum
“This season definitely has a lot of momentum,” Nathalie Emmanuel teased during an interview with Digital Spy. “You kind of feel that from the beginning, so I think fans are suddenly going to be seeing even more characters sort of interacting with characters you haven’t seen them interact with before.”
Isaac Hempstead Wright on magic
Isaac Hempstead Wright will return as Bran in Season 6. But that isn’t the only exciting thing we’ll see. Wright told Yahoo Singapore, “When we meet Bran in Season 6, he’s still got a lot of learning to do, but expect lots of magic.” He added that Bran will have learned “extraordinary enabling capabilities,” including things like being able to cause an earthquake.
Iwan Rheon on Ramsay
Iwan Rheon, who plays Ramsay, explained his evil character’s headspace after Sansa’s escape with Theon. “Without Sansa, he doesn’t have as much power as having a Stark and an heir. Without her, he is not what he was. He’s still sort of a bastard, really, even though he’s been legitimized by another bastard — as Sansa rightly pointed out. And we start by finding out how Ramsay really felt about Myranda…”
Sophie Turner on Sansa Stark
Sophie Turner told Entertainment Weekly that Season 6 will be the best one yet for Sansa. She said her character is “finally getting that storyline that you’ve been craving for the past five seasons… You can only suffer so much before she finally gets the respect that she deserves.”
Maisie Williams on Arya
Maisie Williams revealed that Arya will be blind for at least a while into Season 6 when she told Vulture that the contacts that make her look blind became very tedious to wear.
Dianna Rigg on Olenna
“I’ve got a head-on with Cersei coming up and it’s really good,” Dianna Rigg said of her character in Season 6, according to Digital Spy.
Peter Dinklage on Tyrion’s death
Though Peter Dinklage didn’t give any hints about the odds of Tyrion’s demise in Season 6, he did say that if he were to die, “I think we’ll [Tyrion and Daenerys] go out in a blaze of glory — boom, boom, Bonnie and Clyde.”
Bryan Cogman on the White Walkers
Game of Thrones writer and producer Bryan Cogman promised that Season 6 will hold the biggest battle sequence we’ve seen yet. “We’ve always wanted to get to a place — story-wise and budget-wise and time-wise and resource-wise — where we would be able to do a proper battle, with one army on one side, one army on another side.”
