To say Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel have a tempestuous relationship is to restrain oneself. They’ve broken up, had a baby, gotten back together, had another baby and… yeah, you get it. If you want to know where they stand at the moment, consider consulting Dennis’ Instagram for some not-so-subtle clues.
Don’t call her a gold-digger
For two entire seasons, fans and cast members of Southern Charm speculated as to whether or not Kathryn’s attraction to Thomas, who’s more than 20 years older than her, had to do with his massive fortune. Kathryn definitely has family money, but what she doesn’t have is a partner who’s been consistently loyal to her or has kept his promises, and his name rhymes with “Shlomas Mavanel.”
Lessons learned?
Thomas and Kathryn have gotten back together many, many times, and that’s just what we’ve seen/heard about. This quote seems like it’s a reminder to Kathryn not to go back there again (please don’t go back there again, Kathryn).
Stop it, Thomas
Kathryn made references throughout the seasons to drunken rendezvous she’s had with Thomas, which result is either pregnancy (whoops) or a short-lived relationship that ends in a garbage fire. Bethenny Frankel understands.
Kathryn doesn’t need you, Thomas
These moments when Kathryn gets back in touch with her own power are excellent to observe. Be afraid, Thomas. Be very afraid.
Oh, burn
Is this important or is it the most important? Both Thomas and Kathryn have referred to one another as “the one” over time, but if by “the one” they mean “person I am now forced to co-parent with but hate with the fire of a million suns,” then, yeah.
Thomas? Or every man on the show?
Thomas is certainly known for his philandering (in the season 3 premiere, he flirted openly with a college junior), but this quote could also reference the “Peter Pan Syndrome,” which, according to Cameran Eubanks, afflicts every man in Charleston.
Enough is enough
This is another quote that could refer to Kathryn and Thomas’ relationship, as well as to Kathryn’s relationships with her Southern Charm co-stars, which have been less than awesome so far in season 3.
Nice try
Thomas and Kathryn have had some insane Twitter fights, mainly about custody and Thomas’ tendency to dissapear, and Kathryn has called him out on that publicly, and unapologetically, refusing to take back any of it in the form of deleting her tweets, unlike some reality stars.
On again, off again
Together? Not together? No one knows? Kathryn doesn’t care right now.
Rhett Butler as weapon of war
You do not get more Southern than using Rhett Butler and a series of text abbreviations to convey your non-feelings to your once significant other.
Very dramatic, Kathryn
Kathryn tagged her friend Jennifer Snowden is this post, which is either an inside joke or a warning to us all not to affiliate with Thomas and his ilk.
Irony at its best
Kathryn took this Bravo quiz about Southern Charm and soul mates and she got Thomas: “That’s funny, or whatever.” She was likely pretty reluctant to post the results on Instagram, but she didn’t hesitate to let her followers know what she thought about the answer.
Advice
There hasn’t been much in the way of rumors about Kathryn and men other than Thomas, but she should file this one away to remind her future self when she meets someone who actually cares about her.
Reminder
Thomas made Kathryn a lot of promises: he’d marry her if she got pregnant, he’d maintain their current standard of living, he’d take care of their kids, and so far, has fulfilled precisely none of them. At this rate, she’s a piece of very expensive, finely crafted furniture.
The realness
It’s both sad and delightful to see Kathryn reflecting on her own foibles. Let’s hope those feelings stay very far away.
In case you were wondering
As we know, Thomas has had a lot of relationships, but his affair with Kathryn has likely been the most controversial and the most, um, productive (in terms of children). No matter who else is in his life, Kathryn will certainly be irreplaceable.
Public service announcement
As recently as an episode ago, Kathryn has threatened to bring hellfire down upon Thomas, in the form of playing the game he’s playing with her regarding money and children. He might want to watch out — she is not a person to be messed with.
