As devastating as it was to watch Emma leave Hook behind in the Underworld after risking everything to try to save him, that doesn’t mean fans have seen the last of him. I doubt he’ll find his unfinished business and move on, but rather discover a way to get back to Storybrooke and his one true love, Emma. Plus, there’s no way Emma will give up on him that easily. If that isn’t convincing enough, here are a few clues hinting that Hook will definitely come back to life somehow on Once Upon a Time.
Let’s wish for time travel
Hypothetically, let’s say Hook is trapped in the Underworld and then eventually finds his unfinished business to be able to move on. As sad as that may be, that doesn’t mean Emma and Hook would never see each other again. This is OUAT, a show filled with magic. I mean, what if Emma just time-traveled to another time period to see/find/rescue Hook? As Jennifer Morrison told E! News, “I think my fantasy for the show will probably never happen. I’d love to do, I don’t know, rock and roll in the ’60s. I don’t think that’s in the cards for us.” Never say never, Morrison.
He hasn’t moved on — yet
Again, Hook has yet to move on from the Underworld, which is a very good sign. If there wasn’t a way for him to escape or come back to life, I have a feeling OUAT would have shown him moving on to wherever anyone goes after the Underworld. The fact that that didn’t happen definitely means there is more to Hook’s story.
Hades may be the key
There is still so much to Hades’ story. Anyone else wondering what was on those pages from the book that Hades had Liam rip out? Maybe there is something in there that could help Hook. If not, Hades definitely knows more about getting out of the Underworld than he’s saying. I mean, he was the ruler of it for how long? If anyone knows how to turn a dead person into a living one again, it’s him.
There might be more ambrosia
If Hades was indeed telling the truth, ambrosia, the food of the gods, could still very well be the answer to Hook’s prayers. There has to be more of it somewhere, right? Let’s hope Hades has it stashed somewhere in the Underworld, so Hook can be reunited with Emma sooner rather than later.
Henry is the Author
Let’s not forget that Henry is the Author and he can give anyone their happy ending — you know, if he truly wanted to. I highly doubt that Henry would write Hook out of the Underworld, but this is Once Upon a Time and you never know what will happen.
The finale will be ‘bonkers’
While chatting with TVLine, Rebecca Mader touched upon the Season 5 finale and promised it will be a good one. “I would say that you can’t write this stuff, but then they did,” she said about the two-hour episode. “The finale is pretty bonkers…” Maybe, just maybe, what sounds like a thrilling finale will also include Hook escaping the Underworld in a crazy way. I think you could easily classify that as somewhat bonkers.
Jennifer Morrison is rooting for Captain Swan
Even Jennifer Morrison wants Captain Swan to get their happy ending. In an interview with Hollywood Life, she said, “I do feel like they really are true love, and they are going to do whatever it takes to fight to be together.” She added, “I think that ultimately, as the story continues, it’s going to be important to see Emma’s happy ending. Emma is sort of, she is the new fairytale, she’s [co-creators] Eddie [Kitsis] and Adam’s [Horowitz] creation, so I think ultimately, we’re on a journey to figure out what her happy ending looks like.” Maybe I’m reading too much into this or just really hoping for the best when it comes to Emma and Hook, but I’m going to believe this means they will find their way back to each other somehow.
Anything can happen on ‘OUAT’
Once Upon a Time is one series that can and has done anything when it comes to storylines and characters. As much as the series is great at breaking fans’ hearts, it’s also really good at giving viewers what they want. Right now, it might seem like Hook is stuck indefinitely, but I wholeheartedly believe he will come back in some way, shape or form. I mean, this is OUAT, after all. Even though magic does come with a price, sometimes it’s worth it, especially when it’s seeing Hook in the flesh once again, right?
