The Roloff family is no stranger to controversy, despite their conservative family values.
Audrey Roloff’s anti-gay blog post
Just last week, Audrey was called out for her anti-gay blog post. After she and her husband, Jeremy, launched their blog Beating 50 Percent, which aims to help heterosexual married couples give more to one another, Audrey felt the need to clarify her blog’s target audience. “We are not claiming to be a resource for same-sex marriage,” she wrote in the comments, according to LGBTQ Nation. “It’s not something we agree with.” As you can imagine, the objections got heated from there.
The John and Lisa Bevere connection
Audrey again spurred controversy when she attended a convention and spoke on behalf of Lisa Bevere, wife of controversial Message International minister John Bevere. “She has such wisdom, passion, ruthlessness, and fiery determination to see women become the women God calls them to be,” Audrey said on Instagram. Unfortunately, Audrey’s gushing comes right as John is facing heat for an article he wrote entitled, “Calling Homosexuality a Sin Is Truth, Not Hatred or Bigotry.” Audrey has yet to comment on the Bevere controversy.
An anti-gay war?
Jeremy Roloff shared an article, which suggested “radical gay groups” were such a threat that their actions should be considered an act of war on the church. “The first arrow has been shot,” he wrote when he shared the article on Twitter. “Here is an interesting article concerning the beginning of war.”
Matt and Amy Roloff’s divorce
Matt and Amy Roloff split after 27 years of marriage and then did an interview together. So, of course, things got awkward. During the interview, Matt claimed dating wasn’t yet on his radar but Amy shot back that “he’s on the market, he’s got people.” Clearly a sore subject that had fans picking sides in the couple’s divorce.
Family Feud
Jacob Roloff took to Twitter following his parents’ divorce in 2015 to air his family’s arguments. Jacob said he felt like he was getting the raw end of the deal by not getting the money he was owed from appearing on the show. Fans weren’t that sympathetic and encouraged Jacob, who was just 18 at the time, to go to school, get a job and earn his living independently. Jacob dropped out of high school.
Jacob Roloff Twitter rants
Roloff has upset followers many times on Twitter with his controversial statements about buying marijuana and protesting mass vaccinations.
Jeremy’s nudy pics
At Jeremy’s reportedly wild bachelor party back in 2014, his twin brother, Zach, went so far as to print out some life-sized naked photos of Jeremy, an act that didn’t stick with the wholesome family values the family tries to push.
Cruise attitude
Jeremy Roloff faced criticism in 2010 when the Roloff family went on a cruise where Jeremy reportedly acted entitled and like a jerk to others aboard the ship. A fan of the show and fellow cruise-goer was so upset that s/he took to a blog to air frustrations with the family’s behavior.
DUI drama
In 2007, family patriarch Matt Roloff was arrested for driving under the influence. The incident didn’t do the family any favors when it came to the public’s opinion about their place on TLC.
Jeremy’s MySpace rant
According to National Enquirer, Jeremy Roloff used homophobic and racist slurs on his MySpace page. A source said, “I don’t think Jeremy is hateful, just ignorant.” Fans weren’t so quick to agree.
