Orange Is the New Black‘s fourth season dropped on June 17, and suffice it to say, it was well worth the wait. Tackling tough social topics such as for-profit prisons and overcrowding, Netflix introduced a metric ton of new characters. Here are some we’d like to see stick around.
Hapakuka
Hapakuka (played by Jolene Purdy) was one of the most memorable new additions to the OITNB roster this season, thanks to her role as Chapman’s bodyguard-slash-mole-for-the-enemy. Wonder what this Hawaiian’s story is?
CO Artesian McCollough
The only female CO in a sea of jerky dude COs, McCollough wasn’t nearly as horrible as her cohorts. Did she perhaps play into the “brotherhood” a bit too much? Yes. But she clearly had moments of empathy for the inmates too.
Danny Pearson
Obviously I’m aware that Pearson (played by Mike Birbiglia) isn’t actually locked up at Litchfield. Metaphorically, though, he’s certainly still chained to the prison — since Caputo opened his eyes to the reality of the penal system last season, Pearson has become a major advocate of Litchfield’s inmates.
Kasey Sankey
To be clear, Kasey Sankey (played by Kelly Karbacz) is a horrible, awful, no-good person. I mean, she’s basically the ringleader of the white power party at Litchfield. However, she did seem to have several moments of humanity, including trying to spearhead efforts to take down head CO Piscatella.
Vince Muccio
Vince Muccio (John Magaro) isn’t actually an inmate, but he is married to one — Lorna! Of course, they aren’t even out of the honeymoon phase and her paranoia is already rearing its ugly head, so we want to see how this union ends. And, you know, find out if he really did sleep with her sis.
Ouija
Outside of Ruiz, Ouija (played by Rosal Colon) seems to be the head chick of the Dominican crew, and there’s no doubt she’s a badass. Our first introduction to her is when she informs Flaca her three teardrops tattoo is legit — she has killed three people. Her backstory must be wild!
CO Baxter Bayley
Oh, man. the story of CO Baxter Bayley (played by Alan Aisenberg) was one of the many tragic arcs this season. A kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people winds up committing an atrocious accident… we have to see how things play out for him, right?
Lolly Whitehill
Can we just say we were super-bummed to see Lolly (played by Lori Petty) sent to Pysch at the season’s end? While she technically isn’t new to OITNB, this is the first season she has had a very central role — and we loved every second of it. This can’t be the end of her arc. It just can’t.
Yadriel
OK, OK, you got me… Yadriel (played by Ian Paola) hasn’t even set foot inside Litchfield outside of visiting hours in the earliest seasons of OITNB. However, we can’t help but think we’ll be seeing more of Ruiz’s baby daddy now that we know their history together, thanks to this season’s flashbacks.
Alison Abdullah
Outside of Lolly, Alison Abdullah (played by Amanda Stephen) may just have been my personal favorite in the way of newcomers. A Muslim-American, she bumps head with bunkmate Cindy upon her arrival. But now that the two are fast friends, we can’t wait to see what brought her to Litchfield.
CO Stratman
Again, yes, we are aware nearly all the COs this season were total asshats. So what’s the argument in favor of keeping CO Stratman (played by Evan Hall) around? Would it be wrong to say it’s because he’s easy on the eyes? Aside from that, though, we also suspect he has an interesting background.
Stella
We can’t be the only ones who felt a little let down that Stella (played by Ruby Rose) only made it into one scene this season. While she was actually new last season, she’ll undoubtedly feel new all over again when she pops back into the picture — hopefully at Litchfield in Season 5.
CO Thomas Humphrey
Read our lips: The only reason we want to see CO Humphrey (played by Michael Torpey) is so we can watch the inmates get revenge on him. This guy is sadistic AF and deserves every bit of the comeuppance we hope happens in Season 5.
Judy King
Celebrity chef Judy King (played by Blair Brown) was making her way out of Litchfield when rioting erupted. Will she make it out? We hope not. For starters, this Martha-Stewart-meets-Paula-Deen character really shook things up. Besides, she needs to step up about [SPOILER]’s death.
