Kody Brown was rumored to add a fifth wife to his Sister Wives clan — Mindy Jessop. Although she shot down the rumors, stating she was single, we still had to know: Who is she and how is she connected to the Sister Wives family?
Robyn’s stepniece
Jessop is the stepniece of Kody Brown’s fourth wife, Robyn. And if you thought that was an interesting bit of information, it’s most certainly not the most surprising thing about Brown’s rumored new interest.
No relation to Merril Jessop
You may have heard of Merril Jessop, the man believed to be the de facto leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS Church) after its former leader, Warren Jeffs, resigned (he was reportedly convicted as an accomplice to rape in 2007, Wikiwand reports).
But as far as we know, there is no connection between him and Mindy (and if there is, it’s distant).
Family ties
According to The Principle, Mindy is the daughter of Lisa Sullivan, who’s the daughter of Paul Howard Sullivan Sr. (Robyn’s stepfather), and her father is Michael Jessop, the son of Morris Y. Jessop.
Religious organization
However, there is some confusion about Mindy’s family’s links to the FLDS Church, and here’s where it gets really interesting, albeit complicated: Morris Y. Jessop (her grandfather) and his brother, Marvin Jessop, were reportedly the leaders of the Pinesdale AUB satellite community. The AUB, the Apostolic United Brethren, is a religious organization that is not associated with Warren Jeffs and the FLDS religion. According to Ravalli Republic, Dee Jessop confirmed that the AUB had no ties to the FLDS religion, saying, “We don’t confine our people, they are free to come and go and be a part of the community.” Speaking of plural marriage, he said, “We don’t make them, they are free to choose and quite frankly, a lot of them don’t choose our way of life. But we don’t quit loving them or reject them.”
So again, no links to Merril Jessop (that we know of).
Open to plural marriage
Jessop is open to living a plural marriage, as she revealed on one episode of Sister Wives. According to All About The Tea, Jessop said, “I was raised in a plural family. I’m open to living a plural marriage, but the family bond would have to be really strong, otherwise it would just not be worth it to me.”
The Brown family inspires her
The Brown family has reportedly inspired Jessop and positively affected her views on plural marriages. “There are a lot of things the Brown’s do that are inspiring to live a plural marriage,” she reportedly said, All About The Tea reports. However, Jessop did go on to say that there were things that she would do differently, adding, “just because i’m a different person.”
She lives with Robyn
According to the Inquisitr, Jessop reportedly lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is very close to the Brown family. Not only has she appeared on the hit TLC show Sister Wives, but she has also been to multiple family events, and even lives in Robyn’s house.
Good with kids
Jessop is great with children (a pro if she ever does decide to become an official part of the Brown family), and according to Radar Online, she works as the nanny for Kody’s youngest son, Solomon.
Positive outlook
Another thing to know about Jessop is that she has a positive outlook on life, and her Twitter feed is filled with inspirational posts and uplifting messages, to remind others that there is still good in this world.
She’s single
But perhaps the most important thing to know is that Jessop is not dating Kody, at least not according to her tweet and this image of her mug. She captioned the image with, “This mug was made for me I think.”Will this put an end to the rumors that she’s set to become Kody Brown’s fifth wife? Well, probably not.
