It’s only been one month since Castle officially went off the air, but Stana Katic hasn’t wasted any time starting a new adventurous chapter.
She jumped on a jet plane
Katic embraced the much-deserved time off and jet-setted to Dalmatia. I admit, when I saw her hashtagging #Dalmatiamyway, I thought she was just spelling Dalmatian her own unique way. That just goes to show you how well-traveled I am. But in actuality, Katic was exploring Dalmatia, one of the four historical regions in Croatia. I think it’s safe to say I’m jealous now… and she probably doesn’t need to wear a beanie while floating under the sun in the Adriatic Sea.
Free as a bird
According to her Instagram, one of Static’s first stops in Dalmatia was at the Sokolarski Center, which describes itself on Facebook as a falconry, wildlife hospital and education and research center. Static got to bond with the birds and explore the Center, calling the experience “incredible.”
But then, lemme take a selfie
Next, Katic… well, she took an elevator mirror selfie. Because — really — how could you travel to Europe, stay in what we’re assuming is a 5-star resort and not get a shot of your “#ThugLife” (as she captioned it) while traveling to your penthouse?!
When in Dalmatia, it’s always wine o’clock
She’s on vacation where no one cares if it’s five o’clock. Katic did some wine pairing and tasting at Bibich Wines, a winery located in the hills of Skradin. Just to paint the picture for you, according to Blue Danube Wine, Bibich’s winery is “across the Adriatic from Italy… roughly in line with the wine hills of Tuscany.” Well, a glass of wine while staring out at the Adriatic Sea across from Tuscany? It’s a tough life Katic leads.
No excuses — time to explore
Katic’s just like us — after enjoying wine, she likes to work some of it off with a scenic hike! She took to the mountains and snapped a selfie (with a new male friend?) at Dinara, the highest peak of Croatia that’s actually shaped like a human head made of stone. While Katic said she was getting pretty beat down by the Bura (aka north wind), she captioned the photo with “The views are stunning! #DalmatiaRocks.”
When in Croatia…
One must try the local cuisine! Katic posted this photo of — frankly — a scary-looking fish called a John Dory. Not sure I’d want to eat that baby, but Katic encouraged fans to taste the Adriatic cuisine for themselves by stopping by Restaurant Opat next time they’re on Kornat Island. I am due for a European vacation…
Puppy love
After the two-week excursion, Stana Katic bid farewell to Dalmatia and returned home to cuddle with her puppy dog. It’s worth noting — Stanic’s never revealed her dog’s name on Instagram, but she did refer to him as a Direwolf one time. Game of Thrones, anyone?!
Garden frolicking
Since returning home, it still appears Katic’s making time to relax and be outdoors. She recently raided one of her friend’s organic gardens and picked a ton of plums. ‘Tis the season!
Last but never least: coffee
And while her Croatian adventure may be over for now, she’s never done searching for the perfect cup of coffee. Katic posted that she was “On a mission” and didn’t complete it until she found this quaint-looking coffee shop.
So, what’s next for Stana Katic?
We’re not sure what’s next for Katic — yet. There are rumors circulating that she may star on a new Castle spin-off show (without Nathan Fillion), but as of now, one can only hope. Until then, make sure you follow all her picturesque adventures on her Instagram!
