Like Quinn, Rachel knows how to manipulate. Actually, sometimes she is way worse than her mentor and so much so that it’s shocking to watch. With that, here are a few of Rachel’s top moments, where her manipulation went above and beyond.
Mary’s ex-husband
Remember when Rachel asked Mary's abusive ex-husband to come onto the show so they could find "closure" in the first season? Yeah, what a horrible and devastating mess that also impacted Mary's suicide.
Darius and the epidural
Rachel couldn't have Darius injured, because then that means no more suitor. Plus, if she lost him, then she wouldn't be remembered as the producer who created the first black suitor. So, of course she told him to get that epidural, even if it meant he'll end up in more pain — or worse, paralyzed.
Ruby, ‘Everlasting’ or college?
Oh, Ruby. You should've finished college like you wanted to. However, she never had a chance upon meeting Rachel, who convinced her to join Everlasting. From lying to Ruby about how Darius wanted her on the show to saying it'd be the perfect platform for her passions and beliefs, Rachel hooked Ruby in a matter of minutes.
Madison, aka mini-Rachel
In what has to be one of the most memorable UnREAL scenes, Rachel coaching Madison through manipulating Chantel to talk about her dead fiancé will live in infamy. Between Madison's tears, Chantel's shock over being asked if she killed her former love and Madison vomiting with excitement over how great it felt, Rachel's manipulative powers have never been more apparent.
The betrayal of Quinn
Look, it's no secret that Quinn and Rachel have a love/hate relationship. But when Rachel went over Quinn's head to Gary, the network president, to try to solidfy her spot as showrunner, it was definitely shocking. Even though things didn't go Rachel's way, she still managed to persuade Gary to come to set and change things up. She's just that good.
Anna, forget about your dead dad
Rachel just never knows when to quit, including that time she overlooked the death of Anna's dad. Obviously, she still had a show to do, so why not go to the funeral with help from Adam and use Anna's brother to convince her to rejoin Everlasting? Yes, these are the things Rachel doesn't lose sleep over.
Beth Ann’s Confederate flag
Beth Ann's Confederate bikini is like it's own character in Season 2. Thanks to Rachel, Beth Ann strutted that flag bikini in front of Darius, the other contestants and on camera. Yes, it was beyond offensive, but when has that ever stopped Rachel?
Britney, let’s have a little talk
In the UnREAL premiere, Rachel had a little talk with Britney after Adam eliminated her in the first round. This was the moment when fans saw how good Rachel is at manipulating others and getting them to open up. Britney refused to say or do anything incriminating in her farewell interview, so Rachel pulled her aside, indulged in a few drinks with her and coaxed her to say exactly what she needed Britney to say. Eventually, Britney realized what was going on and stormed off. Yep, Rachel always gets the job done.
Jeremy, Rachel likes you… just kidding
There's no doubt that Jeremy and Rachel had a toxic relationship, but the way Rachel strung Jeremy along in the first season, lied to him and convinced him that everything was totally fine with them was pretty harsh. Jeremy's "good guy" quality in Season 1 is something Rachel definitely used to her advantage.
Revenge on Adam
After Adam didn't run away with Rachel (and all thanks to Quinn), she made sure she'd get her revenge. Her manipulation went into overdrive. From manipulating Anna into leaving Adam at the alter, to Rachel making a complete fool of the man she had feelings for, to Rachel producing one of the best Everlasting season finales ever, it's pretty clear she's found her calling — in manipulation.
