Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy proved that young women were more powerful than the world often gave them credit for. Of course, Gellar herself is a prime example of a kickass woman — here’s what she’s been up to since her staking days!
Getting creepy in ‘The Grudge’
Buffy The Vampire Slayer may have had plenty of supernatural entities, but none were as scary as the sinister ghost from Gellar’s 2004 film The Grudge. Gellar also appeared in the film’s 2006 sequel, as the traumatized survivor of a ghostly attack.
Apocalyptic chic in ‘Southland Tales’
Donnie Darko director and writer Richard Kelly pegged Gellar to star in his ensemble dramedy about the aftermath of the Third World War. Gellar plays a psychic prostitute in the flick, and you gotta love her platinum blonde ‘do.
High drama in ‘Veronika Decides To Die’
This 2009 indie has a dramatic premise: Gellar’s character, Veronika, wakes up in a mental institution after a suicide attempt, only to learn that she will die of an aneurysm in mere weeks. Fortunately, Veronika learns to find meaning in her life — even if it could be cut short at any moment.
Seeing double in ‘Ringer’
Fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer were psyched to learn that their beloved badass would once again get the top billing in a TV series. The CW’s Ringer starred Gellar as identical twins Siobhan and Bridget, sisters who had little in common besides buckets of secrets. Though the series only ran from 2011 to 2012, it was nice to see Gellar back on the small screen.
Getting goofy in ‘The Crazy Ones’
Though Ringer was pure melodrama, Gellar’s next show was anything but. Instead of going for drama, Gellar took on a comedic role opposite the late Robin Williams in the 2013 series The Crazy Ones. The series the network canceled the series the following year, but Gellar definitely got to show off her comedic timing before it was over.
‘Cruel Intentions’ 2.0
If you adored this 1999 teen drama (and really, what self-respecting ’90s teen didn’t?!) then you are going to love Gellar’s latest TV project. Gellar has signed on to reprise her role as the seductive-but-evil Kathyrn, who is now even more cutthroat and vicious as an adult. Though the show has yet to receive a series order from network NBC, rumor has it that the show could be one of the network’s 2017 summer series. (Please, oh please!)
One sweet entrepreneur
Gellar’s latest project has nothing to do with film or TV — instead, it’s all about the sweet stuff! In 2015, Gellar helped found FoodStirs, a company dedicated to bringing people together through baking. According to the FoodStirs website, FoodStirs offers clean and green products made up of non-GMO and organic ingredients that also taste delicious. Best of all, FoodStir kits include everything you need for super fun recipes like ombre pancakes, cupcake cones and brownie pops. It’s the perfect excuse to stay in and bake, and makes Gellar one sweet boss.
