Paulie Calafiore is causing a lot of drama inside the Big Brother house. Whether you love him or hate him (you probably hate him), he’s definitely someone people are talking about. We figured there has to be more to him than making offensive comments and being sexist toward the women in the house, so we found 12 interesting facts about Paulie from his life outside the house.
He doesn’t go by Paulie
The first thing you should know about Paulie Calafiore is that he prefers the name Paul. Because there was another Paul in the Big Brother house, he took the nickname, but no one at home calls him Paulie.
He comes from Jersey
This one might be obvious, but Calafiore comes from Howell, New Jersey. It’s probably why he insists on telling James Huling to “watch out” for Jersey girls and their malicious ways.
He played collegiate soccer
Calafiore went to Rutgers University in New Jersey and played soccer. His brother, Cody, also played but at rival college Temple University. This led to a couple head-to-head matches during their career.
He hates shirts
Calafiore rarely wears a shirt in the Big Brother house. We thought maybe it was just hot in the house from all the tension, but nope! It’s just a thing. If his Instagram is any indication, he just never wears shirts. Ever.
Must love dogs
Calafiore is definitely a dog man. His Instagram is filled with pictures of his two adorable dogs. His family also has two dogs that he often posts pictures of. It’s one of his more endearing qualities.
He loves his family
Everyone knows Calafiore’s brother, Cody, who was also on Big Brother, but Paulie’s also close to his sister, Angelina. The three are often seen hanging out together and supporting each other. It’s very sweet.
He shares his tattoo
We’ve all seen the script tattoo on Calafiore’s side, but did you notice that his brother Cody has the same one? It’s a tribute to their family and heritage. One line says, “Fratelli di Calafiore,” which means “the Calafiore brothers” in Italian.
He tried bodybuilding
Calafiore once competed in a National Physique Committee competition in New York. He didn’t win and quickly gave up the dream, but look at those shorts! It’s worth knowing about him.
He tried modeling, too
This one should be pretty obvious based on Calafiore’s douche factor on Big Brother. He swears he’s the universe’s gift to women, which probably stems from his time as a model. He wasn’t hugely successful, but he loves sharing the photos from that time in his life.
He also tried turntables
Just like any true kid from New Jersey, Calafiore tried his hand at DJing for a bit. He called himself DJ Theory, but it was a short-lived career. Maybe he’ll pick it back up now that he’s got some Big Brother fame.
He loves to coach
When he’s not dabbling in all his different careers, Calafiore does spend time volunteering as a youth soccer coach. He’s definitely an authority on soccer after all his time playing at Rutgers, so it’s sweet that he spends some time teaching the next generation what he knows.
He owns a few fitness companies
The final piece of the Calafiore puzzle is that he is co-owner of at least three fitness businesses, including Sweat Elite Fitness, PC Fitness and Calafiore 360 Fitness. Knowing his passion for fitness makes the shirtlessnes, the modeling and the macho-man attitude so much clearer, don’t you think?
Aww, Paulie!
Paulie was once engaged, if you can believe it — at least, according to Natalie’s friends on Twitter. And he was also accused of cheating on his fiancée! We’re pretty sure Z doesn’t know anything about that…
