Ariel Winter stirring “controversy” for showing off her body the way she wants to is getting really, really old. Winter totally doesn’t deserve any of the hate she receives from sharing her gorgeous body, and fortunately she’s always down to fire back against haters. Here are the photos that had everyone freaking out.
Graduation day
The focus of a woman’s high school graduation shouldn’t be what she wore — it should be about what she accomplished. The gross body-shamers of the internet felt differently when they saw Winter’s dress, but fortunately she wasn’t one to stay silent on the matter. She took to Twitter to write: “Sorry body-shamers, I looked HOT in that dress… And if you hate it, don’t buy it. But please get a hobby. XOXO Ariel #EmbraceYourBody.” Way to clap back, girl!
This pic makes a splash
The fact that this Instagram pic was from a still from a movie (Winter will star as a “wayward teen” in the movie Dog Years) didn’t stop slut-shaming Instagram trolls from writing nasty comments on Winter’s page.
Appropriate for Easter?
Winter posted this pic of her Easter outfit on Instagram but didn’t expect to receive so much backlash. Fortunately Winter likely paid those haters no attention, because she believes that men and women should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies.
Seriously, haters?
It’s crazy to even imagine, but this sweet pic of Winter hanging out with her nieces sparked controversy for her “revealing” bikini. Some trolls even went so far as to say she was “asking for it,” given her attire, which is royally messed-up behavior. Winter had no patience for the haters and posted a thoughtful response on Instagram: “Who knew that an innocent photo with my nieces would turn into this? The height of a girl’s skirt or whatever she is wearing for that matter, does not imply what she is asking for… It sickens me to think at 17 years old, a photo of myself with my nieces is suggesting that I’m ‘asking for it.'”
Too ‘cheeky’?
Some haters criticized this photo of Winter for showing off too much under butt. Winter, however, couldn’t care less about the body police: “Everybody is so hyped up on the fact that I post photos where my butt’s out,” the actress explained toEntertainment Tonight. “It’s a butt. Everyone has a butt.”
These boots were made for controversy
After posting this cute shot of her in cutout boots, Winter’s followers flooded her Instagram with mean comments about her “slutty” attire. Not everyone was such a hater, though: Quite a few fans acknowledged her confidence and told her to “slay!”
Pre-dinner pic
This picture ignited a hot debate in Winter’s Instagram feed over whether it was “feminist” to share this (only kind of!) revealing photo. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but if The Nice Guy — the place Winter was going to have dinner in her booty shorts — didn’t have a problem with Winter’s attire, then strangers on the internet probably shouldn’t either.
Out to sea
All Winter was trying to do with this pic was say thank you to her fans for helping her get 2 million followers on Instagram — but naturally the comments about her butt being on display flooded in. In the words of Winter: “It’s like, Let me live! I’m enjoying my life, you’re enjoying your life, you should be posting your butt if you like it, too!”
Scar controversy
After Winter was spotted on the SAG Awards red carpet wearing a dress that made her breast reduction scars visible, fans called the metaphorical fashion police. Winter took to Twitter to remind them that showing off her scars was intentional — they’re a part of who she is.
Bikini controversy
Anyone else so not here for Winter’s haters having something to say every time she posts a bathing suit picture? I am so not here for it. After crowdsourcing opinions on this bikini for spring break over Instagram, Winter’s trolls dissed the star for posting such a revealing outfit online. Live and let live, you guys — Winter couldn’t care less what you think.
More booty controversy
Has no one on Instagram ever heard of wearing shorts in the summer? Winter’s cute pic of her channeling a cowgirl aesthetic sparked a flood of hateful comments on her Instagram. Do people really have to be reminded that wearing shorts does not make you a “slut”?
