There is so much stand-up hitting Netflix this fall!
In honor of the hilarity that shall ensue, I’ve ranked all of Netflix’s comedy specials from what I’m least excited about to what I’m most excited about. But let’s be real: All this stand-up is worth looking forward to — and comedy is totally subjective, right?
‘Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills’
If you’re still in the stage of your life where you are partying hardcore and think being blacked out and hungover is hilarious, you’ll love Iliza Shlesinger’s brand of comedy.
Admittedly, I am not — but had it come out about seven years ago, I would have been all about this show.
Iliza Shlesinger: Confirmed Kills premieres Friday, Sept. 23.
‘We’ve Been Thinking…’
2003 called, and they want their comedy tour back. Ha-ha, just kidding! The trailer for Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy: We’ve Been Thinking… is actually pretty funny.
Fans of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour were no doubt elated when this special hit Netflix on Aug. 26.
‘Cedric the Entertainer: Live from the Ville’
Cedric the Entertainer is an OG king of comedy, and this special promises to take on “raising kids in the Snapchat generation,” according to Netflix. I’m all in on anything that makes fun of the current cultural obsession with social media.
Cedric the Entertainer: Live from the Ville comes out on Friday, Sept. 16.
‘Russell Peters: Almost Famous’
In the grand tradition of Margaret Cho, Peters’ comedy pulls mostly from his observations surrounding family and race. He is truly hilarious, and hopefully this Netflix special will take him from almost famous to super famous.
Russell Peters: Almost Famous premieres Friday, Oct. 7.
‘Gabriel lglesias: I’m Sorry for What I Said…’
Gabriel lglesias: I’m Sorry for What I Said When I Was Hungry hits Netfllix Tuesday, Dec. 20, and I couldn’t be more excited to hear more of Fluffy’s hilarious voices and his unique take on life.
And, cards on the table, the title of the special really hits home for me.
‘Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60’
Does it matter that I still only see Garth from Wayne’s World when I look at Carvey? Nope. Carvey is adorable and funny as shit, and his comedy special will surely be amazing.
Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60 comes out Friday, Nov. 4.
‘Michael Che Matters’
I’ve been missing me some Saturday Night Live lately, and Che is just what the doctor ordered. Nobody deadpans like Che, and his observations about modern society are always witty.
Michael Che Matters premieres Friday, Nov. 25.
‘Colin Quinn: The New York Story’
Sure, Quinn’s a little rough around the edges, but he’s from Brooklyn! Plus, Jerry Seinfeld directed his latest stand-up show, so there’s no way it won’t be fantastic.
Colin Quinn: The New York Story premieres Friday, Nov. 18.
‘Reggie Watts: Spatial’
There’s no doubt about it: Reggie Watts is a genius. Not only is his comedy funny and amazingly unique, but he is always able to weave his musical talent into his shows as well.
Reggie Watts: Spatial hits Netflix Tuesday, Dec. 13.
‘Joe Rogan: Triggered’
If you would have told me five years ago that I would be a Joe Rogan fan, I would have laughed in your frickin’ face. But here we are in 2016, and not only am I completely addicted to Rogan’s podcast,The Joe Rogan Experience, but his stand-up special is the show I am most looking forward to out of all the amazing comedians with specials coming out this fall — and that’s a bold statement.
Rogan’s latest special explores everything “from raising kids and Santa Claus to pot gummies and talking to dolphins,” according to Netflix, and I can’t wait to hear him wax poetic about social justice warriors and our current PC culture.
Joe Rogan: Triggered premieres Friday, Oct. 21.
