17 celebs who totally believe in aliens (and had encounters with them, too!)

Tom DeLonge

For a while, many people thought former Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge was losing it due to all his talk about aliens. But a recent Wikileaks email dump revealed that DeLonge was, in fact, in communication with Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta. They discussed aliens, with the emails hinting at a UFO-related project between them. It was also revealed that DeLonge was working with a former military official tied to Roswell.

“Things are moving with the project,” he wrote. “The Novels, Films and NonFiction works are blooming and finishing. Just had a preliminary meeting with Spielberg’s Chief Operating Officer at DreamWorks. More meetings are now on the books- I would like to bring two very ‘important’ people out to meet you in DC. I think you will find them very interesting, as they were principal leadership relating to our sensitive topic.”

Eddie Redmayne

SheKnows got to sit down with Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones to talk about The Theory of Everything, and we asked what they thought of Stephen Hawking’s theories about extraterrestrial life. 

“I believe all of that!” Redmayne said. “There’s such a vastness out there, there must be others.”

As for Felicity Jones?

“I hope so, just because it will make things more interesting,” Jones said. “It’s nice to think that there’s another planet with other things going on and that we’re not, you know, the center of the universe.”

Ariana Grande

Uh, of course Ariana Grande believes in aliens. “We’d be stupid to believe we are the only people here,” she told Complex.

Jimmy Carter

Former President Jimmy Carter not only believed in the possibility of life on other planets, he also claimed to have seen a UFO in Georgia. Carter actually talked about the incident while campaigning, even going so far as promising to make government files on UFOs available to the public if elected. (Carter never followed through on that promise, however, much to the chagrin of alien enthusiasts.) Can you imagine a presidential candidate running on an Area 51 platform today?

Demi Lovato

Lovato recently told Seth Meyers not only that she knows aliens exist but also that she believes mermaids are possible. She went on to say that mermaids could be an “alien species that lives in the Indian Ocean,” which explains so many… no, wait, it doesn’t explain anything.

Keanu Reeves

OK, maybe it won’t make you go “Whoa!” to find out that Keanu Reeves believes in aliens, but doesn’t it just feel right to see his name on this list? The actor, who practically built his career in sci-fi, has confirmed that he simply finds the universe too vast to deny the presence of little green men. We’d like to suggest he recruit a few of them and make Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure in Space.

David Bowie

Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that the musician who created out-there alter ego Ziggy Stardust believed in aliens. But can we be surprised that he claimed to have visited a UFO repair shop?

Katy Perry

Katy Perry confessed her belief in UFOs to GQ magazine in February. “I see everything through a spiritual lens. I believe in a lot of astrology. I believe in aliens,” she said.

Dwayne Johnson

While doing press for Race to Witch Mountain, Johnson admitted to believing not only in aliens but also in magic and a world of possibilities at large.

Jaden Smith

Jaden Smith took things up a notch by getting President Obama involved, apparently asking the president if aliens were real. According to Smith, the president neither confirmed nor denied the existence of little green men. What is it with presidents so consistently sidestepping this issue?

Sigourney Weaver

The Alien star is not only a believer but a conspiracy theorist as well. She once told the German magazine TV Spielfilm, “We are not alone in the universe. I think there’s a department in our government that is exclusively dedicated to quashing reports about aliens. And that’s so unfair.”

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas once saw three flying saucers when he was younger, so, naturally, he believes in aliens.

He told Seth Meyers on Late Night, “When I was 14, I was in my backyard playing basketball with some friends and I looked up into the sky and there was three flying saucers. Everyone said it was a movie, but I was convinced it was real. So I looked it up online and there was three identical sightings in other states. So I’m a firm believer in aliens and extraterrestrial life.”

Dan Aykroyd

This Ghostbuster believes in ETs, but he doesn’t think we’ve made a very good impression on them. “They don’t want anything to do with us. I don’t think we will ever have a formal relationship, a formal contact, with any alien species out there — especially after 9/11, when we broke our toys in the sandbox,” Aykroyd said on CNN’s Larry King Live. “If they were observing that, good-bye human race.”

Fran Drescher

Remember Fran Descher from The Nanny? She believes she was abducted by aliens.

“You know, it’s funny because Peter (Fran’s ex-husband) and I both saw [aliens] before we knew each other,” she told Huffington Post, “doing the same thing, driving on the road with our dads. We were both in junior high. A few years later, we met, and we realized that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It’s the exact same scar on the exact same spot.”
