One of the latest Netflix originals to drop is Friends from College, a hilarious and incisive half-hour dramedy that follows the lives and relationships of six people who have been friends since their time as undergrads at Harvard. Contemplating what happens when life gets messy, unfulfilling or even a bit morally tangled as you grow up, the show brings together six talented — and super-familiar — actors to make this dramedy come to life.
Ethan, Lisa, Sam, Nick, Max and Marianne are working hard and trying to navigate their relationships with one another as they grow up. With two people in this friendship group engaged in an almost 20-year affair, others hitting professional roadblocks and some considering breaking free from the confines of their lives, these friends are still surprising each other all these years later.
Watching Friends from College, you might be wondering where exactly you’ve seen these actors before. If only you had something to jog your memory, like, a slideshow perhaps? Keep clicking and learn more about the cast of Friends from College.
Annie Parisse
Annie Parisse might be one of the most, “Wait, don’t I know you?” faces in the group here. Her most recognizable role to date was as Kate Hudson’s best friend in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Any lightbulbs yet? No? Well, she has also appeared in National Treasure (as one of the FBI Agents hunting down a Constitution-stealing Nicolas Cage). Parisse appeared for a long run as Kara Stanton on Person of Interest and she has further appeared on TV shows like The Following and Rubicon.
Cobie Smulders
Cobie Smulders has been everywhere recently, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a welcome addition to Friends from College. Previous to this, she appeared on the mega-hit show How I Met Your Mother as Robin. From there, she’s shown up in indie films like Results, Safe Haven and The Intervention as well as the recent Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Fred Savage
Fred Savage began his career as a child actor. You may recognize him (because seriously, he hasn’t aged one single day in 20-plus years) from The Wonder Years or from The Princess Bride. He has also developed a strong career behind the camera, frequently directing multiple episodes of Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls and Happy Endings. Recently, he starred opposite Rob Lowe in the now-canceled comedy, The Grinder.
Jae Suh Park
Friends from College may be Jae Suh Park’s big breakout role. She has appeared in smaller roles on shows like Dr. Ken, The Big Short and NCIS: Los Angeles. Her IMDb also indicates that she’s been a part of more indie films and TV shows. All the hard work is paying off, because now, she is one of the true-blue stars of a Netflix series.
Keegan-Michael Key
You definitely know Keegan-Michael Key. One-half of the amazing hit comedy duo on The Key and Peele Show, Key made his mark in the world of comedy. From there, he’s been popping up all over the place, with roles in Keanu, Tomorrowland, Bob’s Burgers, Playing House and Why Him?. Now, Friends from College is one of the exciting opportunities to see Key knock it out of the park with some more serious material.
Nat Faxon
Nat Faxon has a big comedy résumé that’s been leading to this unlikely turn in Friends from College (well, for him anyway). Previously, Faxon appeared on TV, including short stints in TV shows like Nobodies and Family Guy. He’s also appeared in comedies like The Way, Way Back, Tammy and Sex Tape.
Greg Germann
Older Friends from College viewers may recognize Sam’s husband as actor Greg Germann. Germann is perhaps most famous for his role on Ally McBeal as Richard Fish. Over the years, Germann has popped up everywhere, from Phineas & Ferb to CSI: NY to House of Lies. Most recently, he appeared on a few episodes of Law & Order: SVU as well as the fairy tale-based show Once Upon a Time.
Billy Eichner
It may be tough to get used to comedian Billy Eichner playing a character so reserved and downbeat in Friends from College. Eichner is perhaps best known for his hilariously off-the-wall bits on his show Billy on the Street. He also stars in the show Difficult People as well as appearing in shows like American Horror Story, Bob’s Burgers and Parks and Recreation.
