Thanks to the success of the original Flip or Flop series (starring Christina and Tarek El Moussa), HGTV has decided to expand the franchise, extending to several other cities with homes in desperate need of renovation. Fans are especially excited about Flip or Flop Atlanta, which recently debuted on HGTV.
It’s not easy to live up to the El Moussas, but Ken and Anita Corsini are fascinating in their own right. Through Red Barn Homes, they’ve flipped hundreds of old Southern houses, turning less-than-impressive structures into beautiful, livable homes. This is quite the feat, seeing as many of the homes have been abandoned for years and some were completely trashed by squatters.
Ken and Anita love what they do and are excited to share their lives on HGTV. Keep reading to learn more about the Corsini family and their exciting new adventures on Flip or Flop Atlanta.
Their love story began with strawberry shortcake
The Corsinis met during college. Ken’s roommate was Anita’s study buddy, but when she wasn’t arranging study sessions, she was trying her best to get to know her future husband. Their first date involved picking strawberries. She whipped up a delicious strawberry shortcake — and the rest is history!
Not born & raised in Atlanta
Although they adore Georgia, neither Ken nor Anita grew up there. Ken moved to Marietta after living in San Jose, California, but while his family planned to move back west, it never happened. Anita didn’t have to move quite as far; she’s originally from North Carolina.
They have a strange house
Ken and Anita specialize in strange houses, but they also happen to live in one. Their home technically has 12 levels. Ken says the odd flow of the house is just fine since it has so many other wonderful attributes.
They’re proud parents
Talk about busy! In addition to their house-flipping business, Ken and Anita raise three children. All three have been exposed to the family business, although they’re a bit young to truly be put to work. Right now, their oldest child really wants to carry on the family legacy.
They love animals
Sometimes, the best moments on HGTV shows involve the stars’ pets. There will be plenty of opportunities for this on the new Flip or Flop show since Ken and Anita have a dog, plus multiple goats and pigs.
Anita has a huge pen collection
Like many moms, Anita stuffs her purse with whatever is necessary to keep her kids happy. Usually, that means having a dozen or so colored pens on hand.
Anita used to be a teacher
Anita’s pen habit might have something to do with her former profession: math teacher! She admits that she is a complete dork, but also passionate about working with kids.
They’ve been on TV before
Although they filmed a sizzle reel for HGTV, Ken and Anita initially didn’t expect their work with HGTV to go any further. They were wrong. HGTV ordered a pilot called Flipping the South?, which was eventually absorbed into the growing Flip or Flop franchise.
They’ve flipped over 600 houses
Ken and Anita were super-successful before hitting HGTV. Their company, Red Barn Homes, has flipped over 600 homes in just over a decade.
They’re huge ‘Flip or Flop’ fans!
Fans make the best spinoff stars. Ken and Anita began watching the original Flip or Flop years ago, but always with a “business eye.”
