We’re now safely through one of the many major award shows in 2018, the 75th Golden Globes, and with it comes some pretty warm memories.
Seth Meyers hosted the evening’s festivities, and the show moved at such a clip it felt like you’d miss the entire award show if you blinked. As expected, there were two themes the attendees focused on during the night. There were a few well-placed jabs at the Trump administration, and of course, much discussion of the inherent sexism and culture of sexual assault and silencing in Hollywood. Comments about both were met with applause and acknowledgment every time they came up, and for the latter, it felt as if the industry was finally using its spotlight for an incredibly worthy issue.
Surprise winners included multiple awards for the actors and crew of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, a win for Lady Bird actor Saoirse Ronan, Big Little Lies taking home multiple statues and newcomers like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and its star, Rachel Brosnahan, scooping up two Globes.
It was certainly an evening to remember, so let’s take a look back at some of the other highlightworthy moments both onstage and at the after-parties.
