There are a heck of a lot of sequels and threequels (the third installment in a series of movies) coming in 2018. But while the second or third films are usually disappointing, we have reason to be optimistic, and here’s why.
Disney is bringing back one of its most beloved characters, Mary Poppins, who’ll be played by Emily Blunt. For an extra treat, Lin-Manuel Miranda is also joining the cast.
Another film we can’t wait to see is Ocean’s 8, the fourth film in the Ocean’s franchise. This time, the women are running the heist. With Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson and Cate Blanchett starring, this may be one of the best films of the year.
After seven years, Lisbeth Salander returns to the big screen — only she won’t be played by Rooney Mara, who reportedly wasn’t asked back by the new film’s director, Fede Alvarez, best known for Don’t Breathe. The new Lisbeth in The Girl in the Spider’s Web will be The Crown’s Claire Foy.
