Love can be fleeting — this much we all know — and it seems especially so in Hollywood. So when two stars find their way into a cute new relationship, it’s only natural to hope for the best. And, hey, sometimes that works out in the long run, right? Cute new relationships can evolve into long-term relationships and sometimes even celebrity marriages. Every relationship has a beginning, after all.
Thus far, 2018 is shaping up to be a super-sweet year for celebrity unions. From the uptick in engagements to budding romances seemingly around every corner, the year certainly has an edge over 2017… aka the year of breakups that shattered our collective hearts.
In this new year, though, things are looking up. With every potential pairing that is sighted, we can practically feel the nervous anticipation right along with them. So in the spirit of new-relationship optimism, we’re holding out hope that the following precious new couples make it through the early phases and cruise right into celebrity power-couple status.

Tessa Thompson & Janelle Monaé
OK, OK, so it hasn't been 100 percent confirmed that Tessa Thompson and Janelle Monaé are an item, but we're serious #Janessa shippers.
During a recent interview with PORTEREdit, Thompson opened up about their relationship. "We’re so close, we vibrate on the same frequency. If people want to speculate about what we are, it doesn’t bother me,” she said.
But balancing advocacy for the LGBTQ community (Monaé came out as pansexual in a recent Rolling Stone interview) while trying to keep some privacy intact can be difficult.
“It’s tricky, because Janelle and I are just really private people and we’re both trying to navigate how you reconcile wanting to have that privacy and space, and also wanting to use your platform and influence,” Thompson explained.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra
Although they have yet to confirm it themselves, rumors began swirling around Memorial Day Weekend 2018 that longtime friends Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are dating — but keeping it quiet. According to Us Weekly, Chopra and Jonas spent nearly the entire weekend together. On Friday, May 25, the went to the Hollywood Bowl to see a production of Beauty and the Beast Live; on Saturday, May 26, they were spotted in the stands at an L.A. Dodgers; finally, later that weekend, they were spotted hanging out with friends at a Memorial Day Weekend party.
Neither Jonas nor Chopra have confirmed their relationship status at the time the reports emerged in late May, so keep your eye on these lovebirds. We'll update you when we know more.
Ryan Cabrera and Audrina Patridge
It looks like singer Ryan Cabrera and The Hills alum Audrina Patridge rekindled their romance after briefly dating in 2010 (the picture above shows them during this time as they celebrated Patridge's 25th birthday). Thanks to E! News, we know that photos and videos were posted on Cabrera's Instagram story over Memorial Day Weekend the showed Patridge and Cabrera hanging out with friends Ashlee Simpson Ross and Evan Ross. The pair reportedly got together after Patridge officially began the divorce process with her first husband, Corey Bohan.
Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon
After cultivating a friendship thanks to their status as Bachelor Nation alums, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon confirmed they were a (very much in love) couple in May 2018. The pair made the announcement on Iaconetti's The Story of Us web series. Since the pair made the announcement, they've been filling their respective social media accounts with lots of adorable, lovey-dovey postings that have us hoping these two go the distance.
Rachel McAdams and Jamie Linden
Confirmation of the Mean Girls star's new relationship with screenwriter and producer Jamie Linden came around the same time it was announced she was pregnant with their child. They've kept their relationship private since they first got together in 2016.
Shailene Woodley & Ben Volavola
The Big Little Lies star made her relationship (publically) official with rugby player Ben Volavola when they went hand-in-hand to a Valentino fashion show during Paris Fashion Week in late January. The pair reportedly met while Woodley was filming her upcoming film, Adrift, in New Zealand.
Chris Martin & Dakota Johnson
The Coldplay frontman and Fifty Shades star first pinged romance radars back in October of 2017, and they don't seem to mind. They looked awfully cozy strolling together on the beach in Malibu in January of 2018.
Aaron Rodgers & Danica Patrick
It's a match made in sporting history heaven! Rodgers, QB for the Greenbay Packers, and Patrick, a NASCAR driver, were officially photographed out to dinner together on Jan. 14, 2018.
Millie Bobby Brown & Jacob Sartorius
Considering the adolescent age of the Stranger Things star and her rumored boyfriend, we're filing this under "innocent and fun." Ah, to be young and unjaded again!
Cole Sprouse & Lili Reinhart
It's hard not to geek out when two of your favorite TV characters couple up in real life, especially when they are Riverdale's Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart. Or should we say, Jughead and Betty?
Charlie Heaton & Natalia Dyer
They costar in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, but nothing could feel more natural than Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer coupling up in real life (like their alter egos on-screen). His social media shoutout for her 21st birthday suggests they're crazy about each other.
