Is it just us, or did the stars seriously bring their fashion A game at the SAG Awards this year? From shimmering metallics to plunging necklines and even capes (looking at you, Laura Linney!), celebrities’ attire certainly stood out.
The colorful and, in some cases, daring ensembles that were on display at the SAG Awards marked a shift in the tone of this year’s award show season. At the Golden Globes, the sea of solid black gowns and suits made a monochromatic and incredibly important statement. While many stars still represented the Time’s Up movement tonight by wearing pins or used their speeches to stand up to sexual misconduct, the fashion at the SAG Awards proved to be a departure.
Award show veterans like Nicole Kidman and Linney made the best-dressed cut — no surprise there. But this year’s cream of the crop also includes a few new faces, like Orange Is the New Black’s Samira Wiley (also starring in a little show you may have heard of called The Handmaid’s Tale).
Brie Larson
Brie Larson went for the glitz in a colorful Gucci gown with sparkle for days.
Dakota Fanning
Dakota Fanning was pretty in pink on the red carpet in a floor-sweeping pale Prada piece.
Halle Berry
Halle Berry stunned in a sequined Pamella Roland gown with tulle overlay. Love the sleek ponytail, too!
Laura Linney
Ozark‘s Laura Linney nailed a triple trend look in J. Mendel with pale pink, feathers and a glorious cape.
Madeline Brewer
The Handmaid’s Tale’s Madeline Brewer paired a pearl embellished blush Reem Acra gown with pops of red.
Margot Robbie
In Miu Miu, I Tonya‘s Margot Robbie embraced her softer side with feminine feathers and ballerina pink.
Reese Witherspoon
Big Little Lies‘ Reese Witherspoon wowed in an emerald-hued, flutter-sleeve gown by Zac Posen.
Samira Wiley
We are over the moon (see what we did there) for Samira Wiley’s celestial Tadasha Shoji gown.
Nicole Kidman
Kidman stunned in this floor-length gown as she accepted her award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.
Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Ronan looked pretty at pink while representing Lady Bird at the SAG Awards.
Greta Gerwig
Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig chose an acid green beaded Bottega Veneta number and rocked it.
Mary J. Blige
Can we all talk for a minute about the supreme goddess that is Mudbound‘s Mary J. Blige?
Danielle Brooks
Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks brought the heat in a sequined red ombre gown.
Yael Grobglas & Gina Rodriguez
Jane the Virgin‘s Yael Grobglas and Gina Rodriguez were quite possibly the red carpet’s cutest pair.
