EXCLUSIVE: Extant star Halle Berry talks filming Season 1

There is much to take from this exclusive video, which is part of a special feature on the Extant Season 1 DVD collection that just so happens to hit shelves, both actual and virtual, today.

The first thing to note? Halle Berry wasn’t sure if it would be believable for her to be an astronaut. The woman has an Oscar, so even though she did meet with a number of female astronauts to ascertain the extent (Extant?) to which she could pull off being a space explorer, she needn’t have bothered. Halle, if you’d come to us, we could have told you that the role could be that of a boiled potato, and you would still be believable.

Also of interest is the fact that Berry has much in common with astronauts, which is a notion we may have thought a little far-fetched prior to her explaining herself and us realizing that, yes, she does, in fact, have quite a bit in common with astronauts. Wife? Check. Mother? Check. A job that most people don’t have? Check. Halle, you forgot to mention that you both wear costumes to work. You took care of all the highbrow stuff, but you neglected to throw in that high-quality piece of lowbrow info, so we’re going to help a sister out and add that to the list.

Something else we learned? Halle Berry is super cool. How do we know this? Well, there’s a lot to suggest it already, but in this case, we know it to be true because she refers to “zero gravity flight” as “zero G flight.” So, obviously, we’re going to start referring to it as “zero G flight” because it is our goal to be as cool as Berry, and we are currently lagging behind where this goal is concerned. Although, we are a little disappointed that this article is likely the only place where we will have actual cause to talk about zero G flights given those guys at NASA aren’t returning our calls.
