Watch Song One‘s Anne Hathaway sing for first time since Les Mis

Anne Hathaway sings again in the new film, Song One, also starring hottie, Johnny Flynn. Full of great music, this warm romance is the perfect film for a cold winter’s night. Check out our exclusive clip.

Song One is a musical romance about a young woman named Franny (Anne Hathaway) who tries to reconnect with her brother after he’s in a terrible accident and falls into a coma. Franny scours her brother’s notebooks only to discover that his musical idol is a young singer-songwriter named James Forester (Johnny Flynn).

Adorable, passionate and sincere, Franny befriends James and together they explore their romantic connection. With original songs by indie-folk duo, Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, this movie may have the best soundtrack of the year.

In our exclusive clip, Franny sits with her mother (Mary Steenburgen) and her new friend, the British troubadour James, sharing a bottle of red wine.

As Franny’s mom encourages her daughter to sing a song she was obsessed with as a little girl, Franny grows terribly embarrassed and tries to hide in her goblet of vino. The thought of singing a tune she used to belt out when she was 8 years old seems beyond anything she’d ever want to attempt in front of sexy James, who’s a true musician. To embarrass her even more, her mother explains that Franny thought singing “I Need You” by the band America could possibly help Bill Clinton become president way back in 1992.

The moment is so sweet, honest and silly; Franny takes the challenge of singing and begins to engage in a gentle rendition of the song.

After live singing through tears as Fantine in 2012’s Les Misérables, we’re thrilled to see Anne exercise her vocal cords again. But what’s super exciting about this movie is Johhny Flynn! This double threat is super hot and, boy, can he sing. We can’t wait to see and hear more from this South African-born actor, musician and poet.

Song One opens in theaters and On Demand Jan. 23.
