Insurgent‘s Kate Winslet and Miles Teller talk about ‘vile’ Jeanine (EXCLUSIVE)
In this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from Insurgent, Kate Winslet talks about the challenges of playing a character so different from herself.
Based on the second book in the Divergent trilogy, written by Veronica Roth, Insurgent is about the various “factions” rising up against their oppressive government, headed by Jeanine (Kate Winslet).

Though Tris (Shailene Woodley) is our heroine in all three stories, this clip lets us see into the mind of Insurgent‘s villain, Jeanine, whom Winslet describes as “one of those terrible, awful people.”
So what attracted Winslet to the role? Jeanine’s inner strength, which Winslet says comes from a place that’s “not even remotely genuine or honest. But as far as she is concerned, she believes she’s being genuine and honest, and she does want the best for the world in which these characters live. She is a strong woman who likes power.”

About Jeanine’s relationship with Tris, Winslet calls it a game of cat and mouse, saying, “Jeanine is the cat and Tris is the mouse, and those roles reverse at various different points throughout the first movie and the second.”
Watch the clip to find out what Peter (Miles Teller) has to say about the faction he calls “subservient,” as well as being the only person to fully know Tris’s strengths and weaknesses.
