Recovery Road sneak peek: Does Maddie pick the wrong sponsor? (VIDEO)

If you can’t wait until the next new Recovery Road, you’re in luck. Here is an exclusive clip from Monday’s episode, “My Loose Thread,” which revolves around Maddie choosing her next sponsor, more friction between Charlotte and Cynthia and Max, and Maddie breaking her grandmother out of her nursing home for the afternoon.

As for the sneak peek posted above, it features Maddie complaining about not getting to go to the beach with her friends. Rather, she has to spend part of her day with Cynthia, who is trying to lead Maddie down an even more positive and alcohol-free path.

She tells Maddie that she needs start putting in the work and effort if she wants to remain sober. Part of that work includes following the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and choosing a sponsor. Well, that’s exactly what Maddie does in the clip. On a whim and without giving it much thought, she chooses Cynthia.

Cynthia is both surprised and touched by Maddie’s choice. However, what remains to be seen is if she actually accepts the responsibility of being Maddie’s sponsor. The fact that Maddie didn’t really think about who she wants to help guide her through the 12 steps and to be there for her during the program also might spell bad things for her sobriety. Like Cynthia says in the video, if she doesn’t start working the steps, she won’t succeed.
