The Outlander Prequel Blood of My Blood Introduces Jamie & Claire’s Parents & We’re Already Hooked

More than 25 years ago, Diana Gabaldon wrote a book called Outlander about an English war nurse named Claire and a Scottish Highlander named Jamie Fraser. In 2014, their love story was brought to television screens around the world and was an instant hit. Now in its seventh season, audiences still can’t get enough. Jamie and Claire (Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe) have a love story that transcends time and space, books and television. And now with the Outlander prequel, Blood of My Blood, we learn how their parents fell in love. Ready to meet the parents? The teaser is here and you’re going to want to watch every single second. Die-hard Outlander fans might be worried about the lack of Jamie and Claire in the new show, but once they watch the teaser, all those worries might be put to rest. Plus, you get the ultimate origin story for Jamie and Claire, because if their parents hadn’t fallen in love, they wouldn’t exist.

In Outlander, we learn that Claire’s parents died in car crash when she was 5 years old. Jamie’s mother died during childbirth when she was 38 years old. Jamie’s father would die much later after watching Jamie get flogged by Blackjack Randall. Are these two love stories ultimately doomed? The teaser video shows a lot of what Outlander does best, love, trauma, action, and drama. Trauma drama. But we love it. Watch how Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, and Claire’s parents Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp met each other. One has to wonder which parent Claire got her super time-traveling gene from. But there’s plenty of time for that. Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres this summer 2025.

So, will Outlander audiences be hooked on the new show? Time will tell. But this teaser is a good sign that a new addiction is about to begin. All thanks to Claire and Jamie, Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan and of course, Diana Gabaldon.

The Outlander season 7 finale airs this Friday at midnight on Starz. Claire has been gravely injured, and Jamie sits by her bedside waiting for her to wake up.
