Outlander Stars Caitlin O’Ryan & Paul Gorman Talk Double Wedding & Acting with Caitríona Balfe & Sam Heughan

Warning: This article contains spoilers from Outlander season 6, episode 7, “Sticks and Stones.”

Outlander has been known to have some wild storylines and epic relationships, and the story of Lizzie and the Beardsley twins has now joined the ranks of both of those things! We sat down exclusively with Caitlin O’Ryan (Lizzie) and Paul Gorman (Beardsley twins), to talk all about why “three’s company” is the best company, and break down their big Outlander episode, “Sticks and Stones” — watch the full video above and read on for details of what we discussed.

O’Ryan and Gorman have had fun bringing to life this complicated and humorous “who’s the daddy” story, originally in Diana Gabaldon’s sixth book in the Outlander book series, . They also both shared big scenes with powerhouses Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan (Claire and Jamie Fraser), and reveal what they’ve learned from working with both of them.

O’Ryan tells us that, not only was this week’s episode special for her character Lizzie, but it was special for O’Ryan herself to be sharing such a poignant (and funny!) scene with Balfe. A round of applause to O’Ryan for delivering the lines, “Slippery with the ointment,” and “they’re identical in all ways” — and to Balfe for somehow keeping a straight face when those lines were uttered. It takes a lot to shock Claire Fraser and Balfe, and somehow both were done in one amazing scene.

Gorman shares that he’s learned a lot from watching Heughan and Balfe on set, and about Scotland itself from working on Outlander! He also tells us what it was like having Balfe perform a tonsillectomy on him on screen — and let’s just say, unlike most actors, Gorman loves the taste of fake blood.

Finally, O’Ryan and Gorman reveal funny behind-the-scenes tidbits about all their Outlandercast members, including Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, Jessica Reynolds, John Bell, and more. Watch the video to find out why two husbands might be better than one. Looking at you Claire Fraser. Monogamy, bigamy, couple, throuple, tomato, tomaahto, what’s the harm in having a couple of husbands, anyway? Always good to have a backup plan!

The Outlander Season 6 finale airs this Sunday on Starz.
