Party Down Newcomers Zoe Chao & Tyrel Jackson Williams Talk Their Favorite Scenes & a Possible White Lotus Crossover

Though much of the original cast of seasons one and two of Party Down have returned for the show’s newest and third season, airing on Feb 24 on Starz, there are some fresh faces too. Among the newcomers are Zoe Chao, who recently starred in Your Place or Mine, and Tyrel Jackson Williams, who last appeared in Hollywood Stargirl and happens to be brothers with Abbott Elementary‘s Tyler James Williams. They join the original party downers, Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr and Megan Mullally.

“I geeked out when I met Megan Mullally,” Chao tells SheKnows’ Reshma Gopaldas. “She is a queen and also such a sweetheart. The first thing she said to me she was like, ‘Oh I know you, you’re funny!’ I’m gonna remember that forever.” Though she has a soft spot for the Will & Grace icon, she was a fan of the cast as a whole. “Big fan of the show going into the season and they’re all dumb funny, talented, and kind,” she adds.

“I had some really really fun scenes with Ryan [Hansen] and Ken [Marino] so I was mostly excited to work with them,” Williams says before admitting he also had a special connection to Mullally. “My favorite scene to shoot was with Megan. It was one of the funniest, it took us so long to get through that scene.”

We also tested Williams and Chao’s Party Down knowledge with a little trivia – and we kind of stumped them. Watch and see how the rest of the cast did with the same trivia.

When asked who they would love to bring to the reboot, their jaws dropped. “I would say bring back Jennifer Coolidge, she is outrageously good,” Chao says. “And Lizzy Caplan, I mean I’m sorry I know that there are other people but there was not a dud in seasons one and two.” Co-sign, Zoe, co-sign!

With Coolidge on the brain, they then talked about a possible crossover between their show and Coolidge’s White Lotus. “If we could do a Party Down-White Lotus crossover, are you kidding me? Are you joking?” Williams says while almost jumping out of his seat.

Though we don’t have that crossover in the works just yet, we are manifesting it, and we can’t wait to tune into the long-awaited third season of Party Down.
