Sam Heughan Leaves Caitríona Balfe the Ultimate Jamie Fraser Voice Text & It’s Everything Outlander Fans Need

Imagine if Outlander’s Jamie Fraser had a cell phone. Now, imagine if he left Claire Fraser a voice text. If it was Caitríona Balfe getting a voice text from Sam Heughan, she would definitely not listen to it. Leave her alone! She prefers a phone call. Balfe and Heughan hit the red carpet in New York City at the global premiere of Outlanderseason 7 at Tribeca Film Festival. They spoke to SheKnows about all things Outlander, including how it might end. Heughan gave us a hint about how he thinks Balfe will react to what only he knows about the Outlander book ending, when she finds out. Handing over the tiny mic to Balfe and Heughan, we asked them what Jamie and Claire’s love theme song is for season 7. One of them sang it, and the other one avoided singing it, and instead tried to steal the tiny mic. Tall man, small mic, look out New York City. It’s “Drop the Mic,” Sam Heughan, not steal the mic.

As Outlander fans well know, Balfe and Heughan have a long-running friendship which is at the center of what makes this show resonate so much. Recently, at 92^nd St. Y on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast, it was revealed that Heughan and Balfe disagree on one key thing. Voice texts. Heughan loves them, but Balfe refuses to even listen to his texts. She wants a phone call, not a voice message. Heughan countered that a voice text allows you to hear your friend’s voice and to listen to it whenever you can find time. This is also true. Since that is one thing they will agree to disagree on, we decided to give Heughan an opportunity to leave Balfe a voice text in the Outlander world. We asked him how it would go if Jamie Fraser left his wife, Claire Fraser a voice text. And it was nothing short of amazing. Mic drop. Heughan understood the assignment, and crushed it.

Balfe’s disdain for voice texts would not be foiled. When we asked her to impersonate Claire leaving Jamie a voice text, she laughed and quickly replied, “I’m trying to even remember what the accent sounds like! I can’t! It’s been so long!” So, there you have it, don’t send Claire Fraser or Caitríona Balfe a voice text. And they won’t ever send you one. But do listen to Heughan’s impersonation on repeat.
