Outlander Just Dropped The Season 7 Part 2 Premiere Date & You Can Watch The Jaw-Dropping First Look Teaser Here
The moment Outlander viewers have been (not so) patiently waiting for is finally here. That’s right, the teaser for the second half of season 7 is above. And you will want to watch Jamie, Claire and fam on repeat for the next 10 minutes. Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan are back as everyone’s favorite star-crossed, time-challenged lovers, Jamie and Claire Fraser. Married for 200+ years or so, these two characters and their families, friends, and enemies have been through a lot of trauma drama. And the second half of season 7 will keep you on the edge of your seat if the teaser tells us anything. As if that’s not exciting enough, we finally have a fall premiere date for these long-awaited episodes. Let’s just say you’ll be extra thankful this Thanksgiving. Outlanderreturns November 22 on Starz for 8 episodes that will run through 2025. Move over turkeys, Jamie and Claire have the table now. Balfe, Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, Caitlin O’Ryan, Paul Gorman, Steven Cree, and more will be back on your Outlander-loving screens before you know it. What better way to celebrate World Outlander Day than this!
So, let’s get to it and break down this 48 second teaser second by gut-wrenching second. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you wish you could be like Claire Fraser and travel to the future via a large Scottish rock.
Last we left Jamie, Claire and Young Ian, they were arriving home to Scotland. Are we finally going to see Lallybroch after how many years?! Yes. Spoiler alert, Starz says in this half of the season, “Jamie and Claire’s marriage is tested like never before.” Excuse me? More on that later. Teaser time.
It starts with happy little birds chirping. Don’t fall for it, Outlander is trying to lull us into a fall sense of peace, it won’t work. We know the pain is coming. Jamie then gallops on a horse. Then, Claire opens a window and the morning sunlight shines down on her. Claire Fraser keeps getting younger as she gets older. 1700s vitamin D hits different doesn’t it, Claire bear? Claire says, “I don’t feel like the future is my time anymore. Jamie and I, we want to be part of creating this new nation.” Then we see another war happening. Eek. These two never learn. Then cut to Brianna crying in the car (while driving, seems dangerous curly girlie), and Mandy is in the backseat. So, Claire and Brianna are still separated by time. Roger looks like he might not be anywhere near Bree either. That false sense of bird chirping peace is about to blow up.
But Jamie and Claire are hugging, and look closely at the background! It’s Lallybroch wallpaper people! But Claire looks like she’s crying. Uh oh. Outlander giveth, Outlander taketh. But then it looks like Jamie and Claire might have a little Lallybroch-love scene, so Outlander giveth back. Either that, or Claire is taking Jamie’s jacket off very quickly for other reasons. But Jamie looks like he’s ready to get down to business, so yes, don’t come a knockin’ because Lallybroch’s about to be rockin’. Did Claire and Jamie just make Lallybrockin’ into a verb? Let’s hope Jenny isn’t nearby with a jug of water. She tends to really love trying to put the fire out between Jamie and Claire, and it’s historically been pretty annoying.
Okay, then there’s a flash to Young Ian, Rachel and Rollo (who looks insanely thin, can dogs take Ozempic?) and Young Ian is putting a rock on top of other rocks, and it looks like maybe someone has died? No thanks, Outlander. I’m just going to assume Young Ian is showing Rachel how to play Jenga back then. So let me believe that.
Then William, Jamie’s secret son, suddenly is smashing and throwing a vase down a staircase! Dangerous, Willie. Simmer down, sir. Why is he so mad? He, Jamie and Claire all have similar tempers. Hmmm.
Lord John has an eye patch on, owwie. What happened? But it also looks like he gets punched in the face by Jamie in the next scene. And we know it’s him because we are detectives, and look at his sideburns in both shots. It’s him. Period. Full stop. But why is Jamie punching his best chess friend who loves him more than anything?! Only one thing could make Jamie this mad. Claire. It’s true. Look at the whole show, Jamie Fraser loses all sense of chill for only one reason. Claire. Now let’s really get into the detective work. What could be the reason for this act of violence?
Book readers of Diana Gabaldon’s epic Outlander book series already know the answer. So, if you want to be like them, go read Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, you have time. But for those who just want to go purely off what we’ve seen and what the cast has said, let’s review what Balfe and David Berry mentioned at the beginning of season 7.
Balfe hinted at Tribeca last year that something goes down between Claire and two other men besides Jamie. The first already happened when Tom Christie kissed Claire. And she froze in time. Balfe and Mark Lewis Jones are the comedy duo you didn’t know you need, and that scene will never not be pure gold. And David Berry indicated that things get “complicated” for Claire and Jamie in season 7. Is Lord John the other man?! Listen, we all know Lord John loves Jamie. And he likes his boyfriend’s wife (Claire) a lot, but not like that. Right?
Back to the teaser, the next shot after Jamie punches Lord John, are men with guns, then Claire is on her knees screaming. Like a guttural Claire scream like you’ve haven’t heard since she arrived back in the future, pregnant with Brianna, after being forced to leave Jamie in the past. That kind of scream. We all know, the only reason Jamie or Claire gutturally screams while falling to their knees is if they think one of them is dying or dead, or went back to the future. Normal couple problems. Her scream sort of matches Jamie’s unhinged scream when he sees Claire miscarrying in season 2 after he has just poked evil Blackjack Randall in his evil little Randall with a sword and is also being arrested. You know the kind of scream that has spit. Yeah that. So, something terrible happens for Claire to react like that. Balfe delivers with yet another unnerving, visceral performance. This scream will stop you in your tracks.
Last year on World Outlander Day, Balfe revealed the hardest scene she had to film in season 7, and then teased a very intense scene she had to film where she wasn’t sure how she was going to do it. And judging from Claire’s guttural bone-chilling scream, it might be this very scene Balfe is talking about. Watch for yourself.
Claire then says to someone, “Would you not sacrifice everything for love?” Most likely, this is not to Jamie, because Jamie would be like, “Duh, Sassenach.” We know Jamie and Claire’s answer to this question, see all 7 seasons of Outlander for the answer. So, who might Claire be talking to? Ian? William? Lord John? Don’t forget this season brings back Jamie’s sister Jenny and brother-in-law Ian (Steven Cree).
Then there is a man pointing a gun, and taking a shot. We see Jamie looking horrified, is he being shot at? Or is he watching someone else being shot? The screen goes black and of course, it ends on Jamie whispering Claire. And Claire whispering Jamie. And all of us having a mild panic attack. Cool. But seriously, is it November 22 yet? Inject this pain into our veins.
There is also exciting news about the final season which is currently in production. Three new roles have been cast and will appear sometime in the final 10 episodes of the series in season 8. But don’t get sad, that’s a long way off. Kieran Bew joins as Captain Charles Cunningham, Frances Tomelty joins as Elspeth Cunningham and Carla Woodcock joins as Amaranthus Gray. Sounds like Lord John’s fam. Like I said, I’m a detective. For those who need a refresher on part 1 of season 7, check out all the exclusive photos here.
Starz released a few details about the second half of season 7, indicating that Roger and Brianna face new enemies that will try to pull their family apart. Somewhere in time Jamie and Claire are saying, “And?” But back in time, Jamie and Claire’s “marriage is tested” when “loyalties change and painful secrets come to light.” Uh oh. No. If there’s one thing that is not allowed to change, it’s Jamie and Claire’s marriage, Outlander. Don’t you Gabaldygook us into more 20-year separations, we will not have it. But we will watch it, so you win. Jamie and Claire are allowed to fight. Yes. But give Jamie and Claire (and us) a break please. Not a 20-year break. Like a trauma break. Thank you.
If you need to watch something light, check out Balfe and Heughan talking about Season 7 and what they love most about working with each other. Now go re-watch the teaser again and tells us if we missed a millisecond, or a frame … and just know you will have peak Outlander stress, Lallybroch-loving, Jamie, Claire, Brianna, Roger, Ian, Scotland goodness to look forward to. Only 174 days to go. Let the countdown begin.
