Herb bouquets

Whether you have a large herb garden that needs a thinning or you simply want to put functional greenery in your kitchen, herb bouquets lend color and aroma as well as flavor when you take a snip here and there while you’re cooking. Get a pretty vase or a variety of decorative pots and fill them with live herbs. Position them near a sunny window and enjoy. If you need a temporary centerpiece or accent for the kitchen (last-minute guests arriving in 15 minutes), fill a mortar with a variety of herbs (see image).

Fresh flowers

Vases of flowers give any room a welcoming touch. Cut flowers from your yard or simply keep fresh flower bouquets in the rooms you use most. You may not be able to lounge on the patio all day amidst the foliage but you can bring the beauty of summer inside to enjoy while you take care of work and home duties.

Citrusy decor

Fill a large trifle bowl or other large clear glass bowls with a variety of citrus. Lemons, limes, and oranges will brighten a room and can be displayed near the kitchen so the home chef can grab them as needed for iced tea, zesting, or fresh juice.
