November is the month of giving thanks, so let it inspire you to show gratitude to loved ones and other people in your community and beyond. Here’s how.
November is the month of giving thanks, so let it inspire you to show gratitude to loved ones and other people in your community and beyond. Here’s how.
1. Take cookies to your local fire and police departments
Firemen and policemen put their lives on the line every day to keep you safe. Show your appreciation by taking them a large batch of cookies.
2. Send armed forced abroad a care package
Our military fights for you, me, and our country. Send cookies or other carepackage goods to our troops overseas. Contact a local organization or visit TreatTheTroops.org.
3. Give thanks to people who make your life easier
Sit down and write a list of all the people you encounter whose job is to make your life easier. Doctors, nurses, teachers, waiters, chefs, babysitters, hair cutters, front desk staff at the gym, the list goes on. Pick up a pack of thank you cards and give them out to the people that are too often taken for granted.
4. Give the gift of live plants
Show your thanks to people who have shown you acts of kindness. Remember the family member, friend, neighbor, co-worker or other person just happened to say or do the right thing at the right time to lift your spirits? Now is the time to give them a gift that keeps on thanking. A live potted plant, herb, or flower will remind them daily of your gratitude.
Don’t let Thanksgiving be the only time of year you feel compelled to give thanks. Put acts of gratitude on your want-to-do list year round.
