4 Holiday family activities

When your home is teeming with holiday guests, the last thing you want to do is sit on the couch and watch TV (where’s the fun in that?). To keep your family and friends engaged, consider these fun and easy holiday activities.
When your home is teeming with holiday guests, the last thing you want to do is sit on the couch and watch TV (where’s the fun in that?). To keep your family and friends engaged, consider these fun and easy holiday activities.

1. Crafts

Pull out your craft supplies and set up a table for the creatives in the bunch. Let Grandma teach the kids how to scrapbook or let the kids teach Grandpa how to make paper turkeys or Christmas trees.

2. Games

Have an assortment of board games and card games readily available. BlueOrangeGames.com has a wide selection of unusual games that will keep guests of all ages entertained.

3. Outdoor play

Rally your guests to play games outside to burn off a few holiday calories and have fun. Touch football is perfect for older kids and sporty adults, but even tag and hide-and-seek for the little kids can be a great way to get in some exercise and laughs. If nothing else, go for a walk or spend some time at the nearest park.

4. The family that cooks together…

Instead of taking on all of the holiday meal by yourself, recruit some of your holiday guests — including the kids — to help out. Delegate tasks, such as chopping vegetables, kneading bread, making stuffing, mixing cookie dough, or setting the table. This will not only take the load off of you, but it also allows you to spend quality time with your family and friends in the kitchen and at the table.
