Vegetarian: Double-Dipper Tofu Sticks

Serves 4

Ingredients:

    t
  • 1 (14-ounce) package House Premium or Organic Tofu – Extra Firm, drained
  • t

  • 1 egg
  • t

  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • t

  • Flour to coat tofu sticks
  • t

  • Vegetable oil for frying

Sauce #1:

    t
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • t

  • 1 dill pickle spear, chopped
  • t

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Sauce #2:

    t
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • t

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • t

  • 1/4 teaspoon vegan worcestershire sauce

Directions:

    t
  1. Wrap tofu with paper towels and press to remove all excess water from tofu, making sure tofu does not break.
  2. t

  3. Cut tofu into 1/2-inch widths (approx. 2-inch lengths) sticks.
  4. t

  5. Whisk egg in medium bowl. Set aside.
  6. t

  7. Place tofu on a plate, coat lightly with flour and cover all sides of tofu with flour.
  8. t

  9. Dip into whisked egg, transer tofu sticks into the bread crumbs, coat all sides.
  10. t

  11. Heat oil (about 1-inch) in a large frying pan over medium-high.
  12. t

  13. Add tofu and cook until color becomes golden brown.
  14. t

  15. Remove tofu and transfer to another place using layered paper towels.
  16. t

  17. For the sauces, add ingredients of Sauce #1 to one small bowl and add Sauce #2 ingredients in a separate small bowl and mix each well.
  18. t

  19. Serve immediately with the sauces.
