- 1 cup sugar
- 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon rosemary
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Doily
Directions:
Cheryl Najafi steps into the SheKnows kitchen to share one of her favorite family recipes: sugar cookies. Najafi combines the classic sugar cookie recipe with flavors straight from the garden such as lemon and rosemary. This unlikely combination creates a sweet and savory treat with just a hint of unexpected taste.
Aside from tweaking the flavor combinations of this timeless cookie classic, Najafi uses a doily to add an elegant and decorative touch. After coating both sides of the doily in a generous amount of flour, she then places a single serving of dough in the middle of the doily and rolls it out into a perfect flat and circular shape. What appears after that is a beautiful and stylish imprint. After baking the cookies at 350 degrees F, let them cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
These sugar cookies are sure to not only please your palate but your creative side as well. This relatively simple melt-in-your-mouth recipe will leave your friends and family impressed and wanting more!
