There’s an app for everything nowadays, so it’s no surprise there are hundreds of recipe-finder apps. Luckily, we narrowed down the best just for you!
For me, one of the most challenging aspects of cooking is simply finding a recipe (I know, strange). I never know where to begin or what I’m in the mood for.
Not only that, but there are millions of different recipes out there for basically the same thing. How are you supposed to find the best among so many? Not to mention, I’m always looking for recipes that don’t call for dozens of ingredients that will cost me a pretty penny. If you feel the same way, you’ll definitely want to check out these five apps for finding recipes.
Food on the Table
Food on the Table is a free app that will help you plan simple, tasty meals for your family. You start by entering in the grocery store where you normally shop. Then, browse for recipes. The app lets you know what’s on sale at your specific grocery store, allowing you to choose meals based on sale items. When you find a recipe you like, you select which items you already have. Once you’re done browsing, the app emails you a grocery list of the items you’ll need for the recipes you chose. Simple, convenient and made for those on a budget!
Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner
Don’t be fooled by the name — Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner does more than just find dinner recipes. You select the type of dish you want (dessert, beverage, dinner, breakfast, etc.), followed by specific ingredients (beef, vegetables, cheese, etc.) and finally the time frame. This is great if you need last-minute ideas and are looking to use up ingredients you already have.
Whole Foods Market Recipes
Whole Foods Market Recipes is perfect for those looking for creative recipes with health in mind. Find recipes for those with special dietary needs or recipes that are low in fat or high in fiber. The app also finds healthy recipes with ingredients you already have. Simply enter them in and let the app do its thing! Similar to Food on the Table, a grocery list will be emailed to you once you’re done meal planning. Another bonus? All nutrition facts are listed on the recipes.
Easy Chef Recipes
Possibly the largest recipe-finder app is Easy Chef Recipes, featuring more than 15,000 easy recipes all with the touch of a button. Though this may seem overwhelming, the app has more than 100 very specific categories to help you narrow your search. Categories include everything from holidays and appetizers to baby food and bar cookies!
Food Network in the Kitchen
Finally, for the serious chefs, we bring you Food Network in the Kitchen. This app allows you to cook with your favorite chefs — including Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and more! You can save your recipes in a recipe box, use one of many multiple timers if you’re cooking more than one dish and even add your own notes, tips and substitutions to the recipes. The app also includes a variety of How-To videos to sharpen your skills as a chef.
