There is no bottled or canned gravy that comes close to the taste of this rich turkey gravy. It’s exceptionally easy to make, and you’ll use the cooking liquid leftover from cooking your holiday turkey. It only takes a few minutes to make this gravy, and you can do it as the turkey rests after you pull it from the oven.
Rich turkey gravy recipe
Yields about 2 cups
Ingredients:
- 1 cup pan drippings from cooking the turkey
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 tablespoon butter
Directions:
- Strain the solids from the pan drippings. Add the dripping liquid and wine back to the pan used to cook the turkey.
- Place the pan over medium-high heat on the stove top.
- Whisk the flour into the liquid and cook for several minutes, stirring constantly. Use a wooden spoon to gently loosen the brown pieces from the bottom of the pan.
- Add the chicken stock and rosemary sprig to the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the rosemary sprig and whisk in the butter.
- Remove from the heat and transfer to a gravy dish.
- Serve warm.
