First up we have homemade taco seasoning. Traditionally taco seasoning is sold in a small envelope and is packed full of fillers and preservatives. This fresh homemade blend is 100 percent flavor and has no added mystery ingredients.

Homemade taco seasoning

Yields about 1/4 cup

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano

Directions: 

  1. Add all spices to a small bowl and whisk together.
  2. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

Homemade Cajun seasoning

Yields about 1/4 cup

Ingredients:

  • 2-1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Directions:

  1. Add all spices to a small bowl and whisk together.
  2. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Homemade Italian seasoning

Yields about 1/3 cup

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons dried basil
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 3 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a small bowl and crush together. You can use the back of a spoon to crush the spices.
  2. Whisk together after crushing and add to an airtight container.
  3. Store for up to 6 months.

Homemade steak seasoning

Yields about 1/3 cup

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon butcher ground pepper (this is a coarse ground pepper)
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons onion flakes
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 smoked paprika
  • Pinch cayenne pepper

Directions: 

  1. Add all ingredients to the bowl of food processor. Give the mix a quick whiz in the machine to combine.
  2. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
