1-Minute DIY: Make your own glitter Champagne flutes
Add some glitz to your next holiday party with these incredibly easy DIY glitter Champagne flutes. You can use the same technique on wine glasses, Mason jars or your favorite style of glass. We grabbed a pack of eight basic Champagne flutes from Wal-Mart for just $24. You can check your local dollar store for glasses, too, or use what’s already in your cupboard.
Using Scotch blue painter’s tape, tape around the stem of the glass where you want the glitter to end — in this case, about a finger’s width below the bottom of the glass. Next, apply standard Mod Podge with a foam brush, being sure to cover all of the stem and base of the glass — especially the edges. Then sprinkle basic gold craft glitter all over the stem. Twist, and sprinkle some more! Set the glasses on wax paper to dry and voila! A super glam look for about $3 a glass, if not less.
Ready, set, decorate!
Once your guests have wined and dined, it’s time to start decorating. The secret to a successful tree-decorating party is to go hands off, Ms. Hostess! That’s right, this year it’s going to be a community tree, and you can’t micromanage. Set out bowls of ornaments (OK, you can have a little control over setting a color scheme or style), bowls of hooks and yards of garland, and let everyone begin decorating.
