Adorable snowman tea cake cookies

Yields about 9 snowmen

Ingredient:

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • Powdered sugar for glazing
  • Chocolate almonds for eyes
  • Chocolate for eyes
  • Walnuts for the nose
  • Fresh mint for arms and scarves
  • Melted white chocolate

Directions:

1

Mix dough and form small balls

To make the cookies, beat the butter, powdered sugar and vanilla together. Mix in the flour and chopped walnuts. Stir until the dough holds together. If it doesn’t stick, add a splash of milk so the dough is sticky.

Roll the dough into balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. You want three different sizes for each snowman, so make 3 large, 3 medium and 3 small size. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2

Bake and roll in sugar

Bake the cookies for about 11-14 minutes, or until golden. Let cool slightly. Once cooled slightly, roll in powdered sugar.

3

Assemble snowmen

To assemble the snowmen, add a dab of melted chocolate to the top of the larger ball. Add the medium size cookie to the top. Repeat with the smaller cookie so you have a stack of three snowmen.

Sprinkle with additional powdered sugar to make the snowmen whiter.

4

Decorate

To decorate, use a skewer to make a small hole on each side of the middle cookie in the snowman. Remove the leaves from 2 mint sprigs and stick them into the holes (to make arms).

For the eyes, stick a dab of chocolate near the top of the small cookie and stick 2 dark chocolate almonds over for eyes. Add chocolate to the back of chopped walnut and gently press into the middle of the small cookie head for a nose.

For the scarf, we carefully tucked a fresh mint sprig underneath the head!
