DIY romantic edible arrangement

Forget flowers, a box of candy or a cheesy dinner reservation this Valentine’s Day. Instead, stock up on your favorite fruits and make your own edible arrangement. Don’t worry — it’s easier than you think.

Did you know that an edible arrangement can cost you up to $50 to order and deliver? Save the pocket change and spend it on a nice bottle of wine or a new pair of shoes.

Supplies:

  • Cantaloupe
  • Pineapple
  • Strawberries
  • Blackberries
  • Honeydew melon
  • Cookie cutters
  • Long skewers
  • Vase or Mason jar
  • Cauliflower or plant Styrofoam
1

Cut out the shapes

Slice the pineapple into thick slices and cut out shapes. We used star, heart and flower cookie cutters.

Slice the honeydew and cantaloupe into thick slices and stamp out shapes. We used a heart cookie cutter for these. We also sliced the cantaloupe into wedges.

2

Stick on the skewers

Fill your vase or a large Mason jar with cauliflower or plant Styrofoam. Stick each of the fruits onto a tall skewer and gently push down into the cauliflower or Styrofoam.

If you want, dip a few strawberries into melted milk chocolate for some garnish. Let them chill before adding them to the skewer.

3

Arrange

Arrange the fruit into a pretty bouquet. We made it so the blackberries stuck up in the back and the shapes were apparent.
